Why Do Creators Do This?

Why, after all this time, do creators still sell things you have to rez on the ground to unpack? Is there some really important secret reason this has to be done? I'm talking new things, not just old items that haven't been updated in forever.

Force of habit, even if a folder of contents can easily be delivered with a single inventory function.

The only reason I could see would be if it contained no-copy components.

HUDs and attachments require a script, configuration and some amount of additional work, especially if you're someone who likes to invest in the presentation (I've seen some impressive "add me" designs).

A storage box only requires a prim, and optionally a graphic.

Even worse is when they do this and make 3/4 of the box transparent.

As a creator one never can win them all.
Some want boxes, others want hud like add me boxes, and some want direct folders when they buy from the marketplace.
One simply can't get a 100% satisfied customer base on this one.

Give em a HUD that only offers a group invite and you have to rez it anyway but is transparent on all but one side.

I simply give them what I want to give them and that is a folder through the marketplace. A low hassle solution for all IMHO.

This is the simplest way for everybody, thank you.

I bought something the other day and I had to rez a box, unpack it, then find the folder in my inventory, find the box in that folder that corresponded to my body type, then rez that on the ground, unpack it, and find the resulting folder in my inventory. Absolutely ridiculous lol

I get that for body dependent items, having one folder that contains everything is probably way too large, but I do know of one store that gives you a hud that lets you select the body type and then gives you just that folder. That's fine too. It really is the rezzing on the ground that is the real pain in the ass.
