This big old drafty Edwardian has been fun to live in, and it's great for entertaining, but the cleaning and gardening and upkeep make me feel older every year. One needs to downsize and relax once retirement rolls around. And I've become so weather-centric, somewhere that won't flood in rising seas, where the summer highs are around 75F/24C, and maybe a dowtown loft where everything is accessible on foot or bike seems a perfectly lovely idea.

Not a whole lot of info out there just many Pinterest links (🙄)

A tad too cookie cutter for me but still lovely.

Those aren't full-time residences, but rather "allotment gardens" where apartment dwellers can stay in small buildings for the weekend.

And did you need a car (Free seems unsure about that you don't need a car then)?

The first, and only, time I drove a car in Second Life we ran off the Kissling plateau, the asshat server crashed, and Philip’s cod piece fell off. So no. or Nooooo!
I can fly without a plane or helicopter or balloon in SL. I can't do that in real life.

And after the third flood, the silt under it will be uneven, house will come down, tilt and bind, and the foundation will crack and crumble.
Well, they call it the Amphibious house, not the Amphibious house and landscape. :hellokitty:

It's got about one floor worth of leeway, so it's no better off than a stilt house except it's more expensive, requires more maintainence (even if it never floods) and likely to fail catastriphically (if it does).

They're doing this in the Netherlands, and they're not exactly newbies. But I would trust a house like this only IN the Netherlands because I wouldn't trust anyone else to get it right the first or tenth time.
