Well, Microsoft did say they were going to clean up a lot of the old stuff with Windows 11...LOL.

The problem with ReactOS is its development speed, which moves around the same speed erosion works. 23 years in development, and still no version 1 or at least beta vesion.
I collect taskbar icons like crazy, but I might be able to adjust to this. I will hate it, and move the start button back to where god intended as soon as I can, but my Chrome OS has centered taskbar buttons, and it isnt horrible. App access in Chrome OS, without the taskbar, is an absolute nightmare, in general, because when you swipe up to see all your apps they are in randomized order, no rhyme or reason. I have one full page, one page with like two apps, one page thats half full, rhem the ladt page has like 6 apps, and they all play musical chairs when you add/remove apps. You can't organize them, either. Its very amateur, liie they let some crypto nerd tinker with the app presentation, to generate maximum entropy. So with that as an alternative, I grew to like the centered chrome taskbar. My lemovo duet is more like a tablet than a laptop, though.LOL.

Yeah, I managed to completely skip windows 8 and 8.1 and go straight from 7 to 10. The only other distro I did that with was ME. Nothing good has ever come from MS trying to do mobile. From what I'm hearing, I'm gonna have to skip 11, as well, which shouldn't be that hard. My hardware is only a year and a half old. If they want to force the issue, with forced updates, it's less of a hassle for me to use linux than 11. I wish qubes linux had full hardware pass through. The crazy paranoid people running the distro call full passthrough a security risk, but full hardware passthrough would make it a no-brainer for the average user to switch to linux full time, and just run windows in a VM.I could maybe cope with the centered, but apparently start menu items are no longer resizable. And no grouping
It's like they took the "apps" tab from search and turned that into an Android-style start menu.
Eh. It'll either be a refurb computer of some kind and using W11 with ClassicShell or just making games work in Linux sometime in the future.
Unless they pull a W8 and there'll be a Windows 11.1 with vaguely less suck.
Considering how much they have to unfuck from Microsoft? Not surprised at how long it's been in development. Fuck sake, they found that quite a few of the exploits they'd fixed while rewriting Explorer.exe were in the fucking print spooler as well.
Sometimes I still miss the extra toolbars from XP. Though now they might be a bit odd since I'm running several monitors.

Maybe social media buzz? Moving the start button has generated the most internet traffic about Windows 11 so far. Most people don't care about the other features, we just want our start button where it belongs. If it really is all about buzz, then they will announce they are putting the start button back where it belongs the week before launch, to get another round of hype. That's all assuming their designers aren't completely insane, and that they care about hype. I don't think they have seriously hyped anything since Windows 95.
