I have not read it yet but I bought the ebook with some Amazon credit I had so, the marketing is working.

It was also listed as "#1 in (Very specific category like Amazon does)."

Meanwhile, New Yorkers just being New Yorkers over the weekend.

"Highlights deep divide" the headline says, but I've rarely seen people relating in such a widespread way.

No kidding. It highlighted the deep resentment people have of the elite and particularly our healthcare industry. But it seems like working class people are more united now than we've been in a long time.

These past few days I keep thinking about an old friend -- long passed away, now -- who once conned his way across the country with a partner. They'd buy some reasonably clean, high-mileage old car in Town A. We'll say the car is a 1955 Oilsmoker. They'd pour in enough additives to make it seem like it was in good repair and roll back the odometer -- in those days, that was simple. Then my friend would travel ahead to Town B and start visiting used car dealers asking if they happened to have a 1955 Oilsmoker. He had a whole tale about how he knew it was kind of a piece of crap, but he'd had one when he was a senior in high school and had so much fun (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) and, man, if he could find a clean one he'd buy it on the spot. Here's where he'd set the hook; "What do you think something like that would go for, like (some ridiculously high number)?" He'd even put down a small cash deposit.

Of course, once the scene was set, As If by a Miracle, his partner would appear on the lot with a clean 1955 Oilsmoker which he "might be willing to sell." You can guess the rest.

He shared this tale with a bunch of us one night and I asked, "But weren't you afraid of getting caught?" He laughed! "Are you kidding? Do you think there's a jury in America who would convict someone for conning a used car dealer?"

Likelihood that super rich overplays hand before the gun mounted police robots are ready: Virtual Certainty.

There are now three jackets he has allegedly been photographed wearing.

At the hostel there's the light brown/taupe jacket with chest pockets and overlapping zippered front.

At the crime scene there's a dark grey jacket with flush zipper and no chest pockets.

Outside the taxi there's a dark blue/black quilted jacket.

Two, I can believe is subterfuge, or a getaway change. But three?

Vaush is claiming that some of the photos aren't of the suspect. I don't know if he has info I can't find or if he's just stating that with more certainty than I am.

If they ever release a photo of the jacket they found in the backpack, we can match it to one of the three...or add a fourth.

REALLY curious that the hostel photos have not resulted in leaked claims of people who recognize him.

Is this why Musk is trying to make Tesla robots?

Deep down he knows he is being such an asshole that no amount of sexurity personell will guarantee he isn't getting betrayed by one of them eventually.

There is such tremendous political/PR pressure on this case that who knows what are genuine leads versus just something to feed the reporters.

Finding a backpack in Central Park that belongs to the gunman could be inspired detecting or clutching at straws. They'll need an indisputable DNA match to tie it to the water bottle that was found near the crime scene. And then what? Without the weapon, how do you tie that DNA to the actual murder? How many people wearing jackets and backpacks cross through central Manhattan on any day? Any given hour, for that matter. It's circumstantial evidence at best (assuming those connections are actually corroborated).

They need the gun to match to the killing, and that would provide a lead as to who bought the gun. Then the DNA placing them at the scene becomes useful evidence. Without the gun, they don't have much to go on except some dubious visual matches

Yeah, I imagine there are a lot of people with power who are desperate to make an example put of this shooter to show that "This won't work" etc.

It also seems pretty clear that the shooter knew what they were doing, compared to a lot of ahootings, to keep from getting caught rapidly. Hell they may have already fucked off to somewhere across the country already.

Here's where things could get "interesting" assuming the police actually have DNA evidence which doesn't match anything in their database. Uploading that evidence to Ancestry and any of the other DNA testing services could provide a match directly to the gunman, or at least to a relative. That method of investigation is rather fraught, however, with various federal policies restricting how easily police can do this.

And now it looks like they have a guy arrested in PA with a gun, with suppressor, using multiple IDs. If that's true, the guy is really not as smart as some people were claiming. Who keeps the murder weapon on them? smh

Oh yeah, this was well planned. The shooter knew exactly where the target would be and when without any real security. He fired his shots and fucked off to god knows where. He had a suppressor so it didn't alert everyone for blocks in a loud city. Whatever people think of the shooting politically, it was clearly planned.

If this is the same guy, it's quite a slip up. But I'd also not be surprised if they will arrest many persons of interest...
