And if they find they can't do that in a particular case, whether because of their religious beliefs or some other reason, they recuse themselves from hearing it.

Feds block millions for ‘Alligator Alcatraz,’ ‘Deportation Depot’ over pending environmental review

The federal government is withholding a $608 million grant to help pay for Florida’s migrant lockups because a required environmental review still hasn’t been completed, newly released records show.

The so-called “Alligator Alcatraz” and “Deportation Depot” centers were projected to cost $1.7 billion over two years, with Floridians expected to pay at least $1.1 billion, according to nearly 3,000 pages of emails and financial sheets reviewed by the Phoenix.

On four separate occasions last year, the Federal Emergency Management Agency told state officials that it wouldn’t release the full $608.4 million grant award until an Environmental and Historic Preservation (EHP) review was finalized. FEMA even formally denied a state funding request in December, citing the unfinished review.

Her supposed successor is Senator Markwayne Mullin taking over on 31st of March. Noem will become an envoy for the "Shield of Americas" initiative Trump wants to launch over the weekend. That's quite the downfall for Noem, who Trump first considered in 2024 as his running mate but decided against it after he read that she once killed her dog.

Reuters: Trump administration says Nashville reporter arrested by ICE will get due process

WASHINGTON, March 6 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump's administration said on Friday a Colombian reporter for a Spanish-language news outlet in Tennessee, arrested by federal immigration agents, will get due process.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Estefany Maria Rodriguez Florez, a journalist for Nashville Noticias,, opens new tab ‌in the state capital on Thursday. She was taken to an ICE detention center and remains in custody.

ICE accuses her of violating her visa conditions. A lawyer for her was cited by local media as saying that "up until now, she hasn't had a case with ICE charging her with anything."

Nashville Noticias said the reporter was with her husband outside a gym on Wednesday when the vehicle they were in, which was marked with the media outlet's logo, ⁠was surrounded and she was detained.

Rodriguez Florez arrived in the U.S. on a tourist visa, filed for political asylum, later married a U.S. citizen and has a valid work permit, her lawyers ⁠say, adding that she and her husband have filed for permission to adjust her status to lawful permanent resident.

The Trump administration alleges she was not authorized to stay in the U.S. beyond 2021 on her tourist visa.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) bought data from the online advertising ecosystem to track peoples’ precise movements over time, in a process that often involves siphoning data from ordinary apps like video games, dating services, and fitness trackers, according to an internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document obtained by 404 Media.

The document shows in stark terms the power, and potential risk, of online advertising data and how it can be leveraged by government agencies for surveillance purposes. The news comes after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) purchased similar tools that can monitor the movements of phones in entire neighbourhoods. ICE also recently said in public procurement documents it was interested in sourcing more “Ad Tech” data for its investigations. Following 404 Media’s revelation of that ICE purchase, on Tuesday a group of around 70 lawmakers urged the DHS oversight body to conduct a new investigation into ICE’s location data buying.
