I've heard judges, when they think they're getting the runaround from government departments over here (including the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice) tell the prosecution that, if their orders aren't complied with, the relevant government minister will risk being found in contempt of court and will be required to explain themselves in person at the next hearing.Law isn't really a thing here anymore.
That usually gets the desired result.
