Actually Christmas is being celebrated in Japan amongst the non Christian population, which is the majority, but quite different than we do. It's more like Valentine's day within our cultural circle, where people are getting asked out for a date. And if getting asked on a date during Christmas this means the asking person is quite serious about being a couple and maybe even more later.
