The article makes valid points. As far as there being a very good reason for the orange one to avoid debates, there is a much better one than that. Why bother causing problems for himself debating people so far behind when he is 40 points ahead in the republican polls?

During the debate Scott argued that welfare assistance was harder than slavery for Black Americans.

“We survived discrimination being woven into the laws of our country,” he added, in a line that for a moment sounded like he might actually be acknowledging systemic racism.

If I correctly remember -- and it's forever since I read Foucault's History of Sexuality, so I'm probably wrong -- sodomy (whether M/M or M/F) was seen by the Church as a particular expression of lust, unnatural in that it separated sex from its natural purpose of procreation, and turned into something done simply for pleasure. And it makes sense -- some of De Sade's libertines are characterised as enjoying sex only with men and boys, not with women, but they're presented not as a separate category of libertine -- gay libertines, as opposed to straight or bi- ones -- but simply as libertines with a particular perverse kink.

So I think he's trying to construct a syllogism (and falling right into a great big undivided middle term)

Gay sex is sex for the purpose of pleasure, not procreation.
Straight sex with contraceptives is (or is at least intended to be) sex for pleasure, not procreation.
Therefore straight sex with contraceptives is, to all intents and purposes, equivalent to gay sex.

I guess they are taking the term "gay" back to it's old school root of "happy.". IE, pleasurable.

Makes sense I guess then, since these people seem to think being happy is a sin.
