Just to pick one alarming statistic, the average state receives 36% of their funding from federal aid programs. He has just cut off all of their aid. Something drastic will happen in a matter of days. I don't know what but it won't be good.

The state college that employs me derives around seventy percent (70%) of its appropriation from federal aid programs. We may be in some deep doo doo here. I wonder if the Pubes may finally legislate a state lottery to benefit educational funding?

Part of my late father's role as a member of the deep state senior civil servant was to make sure stuff like this couldn't happen in the UK, or at least not without parliament having to pass a law explicitly to make it happen.

The irony is that the red states -- that overwhelmingly supported Trump -- are the most dependent on Federal aid. This is going to hurt MAGAs really badly, along with the higher prices for food and goods. Massive unemployment, too, as Federal jobs are axed right and left.

The shock-and-awe tactic does have some advantages in creating paralyzing chaos, but it also risks overplaying their hand. Curious to see how this turns out.
