In springtime some news person predicted that Mueller would present his case by early September in order to not interfere with the midterm elections. That didn't happen. My prediction is it will happen within a week after the elections.

It has been bothering me how long Mueller is taking, but there is a chance that he needs to wait till the democrats regain control of the house and senate. There is not much point releasing findings if the GOP will not impeach trump. Likewise, if the DNC only gets the house and not the senate, the best we can really hope for is impeachment by the house, but no conviction by the senate. In other words, trump would be removed, but that would be the extent of his punishment.

Edit: Sorry, had it in my head that the house impeaches/removes and the senate does convictions. The correct way, as discussed below, is that the house impeaches and the senate removes/convicts. So an impeachement with a GOP controlled senate would do nothing.

His findings may be mindblowing. Given the current political climate, maybe that won't even matter. He surely won't do anything before the elections though.

I don't think Mueller is THAT close to being ready to issue a report. I very well may be wrong, but although I think some more indictments are coming soon, I'd be surprised if his investigation concludes before next year...close to mid-year. Just my feel on it which isn't really worth much. 😊

Waiting until after the election also keeps the GOP or Trump from claiming that any new developments were intended to influence the election. Somebody in the White House right now is praying for a new indictment or the release of new details in the next four days so they can jump all over Mueller for this reason.

The logical next step is to supoena/call for testimony from Trump's family. They already did his personal lawyer and campaign manager. If his family lies to federal investigators, and they already have evidence from previous people who have pled guilty and promised to cooperate, then they will be in big trouble. If they tell the truth, *Donald* will be in big trouble.

This is how organized crime and racketeering investigations work, and Mueller's staff have a lot of experience in those kinds of investigations. You start with the small fish, and follow the money trail. Then you plea bargain the small fish in order to get cooperation for the bigger fish.

The odds are Republicans will lose the House in a few days. The confusion and recriminations from that are a great time for Mueller to strike, while Donald is too busy attacking everyone who says it's his fault they lost. I'm not privy to his plans, but that's when *I* would do it.

Impeachment by the House without a conviction in the Senate effectively does nothing. Conviction is required for removal, which isn't possible with GOP protecting their own no matter how guilty.
It takes a conviction in the Senate to have removal from office being the extent of his punishment. They are a body of lawmakers, but not a court of law.

A prime example is Bill Clinton. He was impeached by the House, but kept his office because the Senate acquitted him of the charges against him.
Impeachment of Bill Clinton - Wikipedia

It takes a two-thirds vote in Senate to remove a sitting President from office following impeachment in the House, which is why it is unlikely Trump will be removed before his term ends.
