What's wrong with CNN?
They're firmly in the "any news that grabs clicks" camp, far worse than MSNBC and others.

I only recently decided MSNBC was one of the worst offenders but CNN has been part of the informaton problem for a long, long time.

American Sikhs should have known better. While the New American Century types that just cared about controlling middle eastern oil were tolerant of Sikhs because they hate Muslims, are not to fond of The Gays, and voted for Republicans in the US. the Maga-heads and Evangelicals just see Sikhs as brown skinned foreigner non-Christians who don't belong in a America.

#NotAllSikhs, I think -- certainly certainly a lot of Sikh members are very active in my local Labour Party -- but, as the article makes clear, it's rather ironic that Ms Dhillon is one of MAGA's go-to lawyers, and apparently a very successful one.

But, as you say, she's apparently the wrong colour and the wrong religion for a lot of them.

The problem is that many Americans remember things as being better economically when Trump was president - which was just him wasting what Obama left behind, but whatever... But, I'll use us as an example. When Trump was president we had disposable income. We had enough to cover all of our basics and some of what we want. After Biden took over it felt like that changed very quickly - like from one week to the next. My husband got a 30k+ per year pay increase when he got his new job. We're still fucking struggling - mostly trying to play catch up from before he got the new job, but still.... (no we aren't considering Trump). But, I've heard a lot of people saying similar things - except none of them have gotten a 30k+ pay increase. So, yeah, I get the nostalgia for Trump by some people.

And in the mean time: ‘One Of The Greatest Villains In American History’: Democrats Release Scathing Statement On RFK Jr. (slingshot.news)
These dumb fucks might have just make RFK our next president, and I'm here for it. I've wanted to see the 2 party system smashed for so long it's not even funny. They're too dumb realize that there's a large voting block of contrarians (like me) who will think, "Well, if the establishment hate him, there must be something to him...." Then, there's the Never Trumpers who were maybe gonna hold their noses and vote for Biden. Alot of them are gonna be like, "Wait a minute! Maybe we need to give this guy a look..." Plus, the media's actually been paying attention to RFK this week. Usually they ignore him.

Yeah, I get it, though the perception is wrong. A lot of people don't get that the economy lags well behind policy. The way the economy is doing NOW is not necessarily a reflection of what policies or world events are happening NOW. Trump tried to take credit for how good the economy was before he even took office. And right wing opinion pieces I was referencing earlier are willing to forgive Trump for the COVID recession but of course blame Biden for it... The perception is powerful though and hard to beat. My fear is that the economy shows strong signs of recovery and will likely have another great boom just in time for Trump to swoop in and act like he did it again...

It's about time someone called out the lukewarm "journalism" being practiced at MSNBC. Thank you, Mary.

'This is non-journalism': MSNBC's Katy Tur nailed by Mary Trump over convention comments

Taking to both TikTok and Instagram, Donald Trump's niece, psychologist Mary Trump, took some shots at MSNBC host Katy Tur for her commentary during the recently concluded Republican National Convention where she told viewers that she felt the former president appeared to be humbled after an assassination attempt one week ago.

From the RNC convention:

Count the stripes. Count the stars...actually, look at the placement angle of the stars. That's an AI-generated flag.

Fake flag for a fake political party.

More than 333 million people, one of the oldest democracies in the world, the by far most expensive campaigns in the world and the choice for presidency is too old or too mentally sick.
Nothing wrong with the system you all.
Correction, the only choices are both too old and mentally sick.

Biden is much better than Trump but frankly, I kind of feel like he is not doing great.

I don't have a solution, but I can say that it probably should have been implemented like 30 years ago. We are too far gone and too broken. If the Democrats managed to sweep they could make implement fixes to help it start healing, but they won't, because they don't make actual progressive pushes and policies, they just play lip service and come up with excuses when the time comes.

Of all the "You have to account for COVID, this feels like one not really used a lot. A LOT of companies used COVID as an excuse to raise prices across the board and then they just, never went back.

Yeah, I posted this before Sorkin said what he said in the NYT.
I just wanted people to remember to take the polls with a grain of salt.
As a stats buff, I've often defended the polls in the past, but I think polls right now are especially useless between it being too far out, and also because a growing portion of the population refuses to talk to pollsters. The integrity of polls is obviously very dependent on a large share of both parties being willing to talk to those annoying people who call them to ask questions. ...often a ton of intrusive questions. I've even declined to talk to them myself recently.

Statisticians know this is a problem. It's called a "response bias." But it's a very difficult thing to actually account for. I believe this will be a close election, but have no confidence in the polls this time around. Which sucks, because I just want to objectively know what is going on.
