i can't put mixed race on documents. When i came from Jamaica 2 years old, i supposedly confused officers... instead of judging by my skin.. i was judged by my curly brownish black hair even tho i'm light skinned. there is no "Other" or "Mixed" option in the early 90s... only more recent official government documents allow that. I legally have to put Black/non hispanic. Apart of the systematic racism that has happened for decades, everyone is kind of bundled together.
There needs to be a 'pie' option.

Email communications from individuals associated with the Trump campaign have been hacked by malign actors within the last ten days, Popular Information has confirmed.

On September 18, I was sent a message from "Robert," which contained the cover page of a dossier on Senator JD Vance (R-OH), the Republican vice presidential nominee, dated February 23, 2024. Robert refused to identify himself except to suggest it was the same "Robert" who provided stolen internal Trump campaign materials to Politico, the New York Times, and the Washington Post in July and August. "I thought you must have heard Robert's story," he said.
The writer notes he was sent a selection of information from the Trump campaign, but:
The internal Trump campaign documents obtained by Popular Information may be embarrassing or problematic to members of the Trump campaign. Some of the documents have news value. But the stolen materials do not provide the public with any fundamental new insight about Trump or his campaign. So, on balance, the relevant factors argue against publication.
In any case, there's seems to be an ongoing security problem with Trump's campaign.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if certain state actors are planning an October Surprise for Trump.

Like many people who desperately want the carnage in Gaza, and now Lebanon, to end, I have lost hope that Harris will do any meaningful work towards a ceasefire. I dread a Trump presidency, but I also have no enthusiasm for a Harris presidency. Still, the fact that, with just weeks to go to the election, we are in a situation where a highly credentialled woman is neck and neck with an extremist sexual predator and convicted felon who writes late-night rants in all-caps is an astounding indictment of US politics. GOD HELP US ALL.

An effort to prevent Donald Trump from losing a potentially crucial electoral vote from Nebraska appeared dead Tuesday after the state’s Republican governor said he’s not planning to push for the necessary change in state law ahead of the November presidential election.

Gov. Jim Pillen said that a proposal to alter how Nebraska would allocate its five electoral votes does not have the two-thirds majority it would need to pass and take effect in time. Pillen issued a statement the day after a Republican state senator said he wouldn’t support such a measure ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
Only Nebraska and Maine split their electoral votes, awarding two each to the winner of the statewide vote and one to the winner in each congressional district. Republicans have carried Nebraska in every presidential election since 1964, but in 2020, Democrat Joe Biden won the electoral vote for Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District in the Omaha area — ousting Trump from the White House.

My belief that her administration will attempt any meaningful changes toward national health care die a little more every day as well. I'm so dramatic. But it is so sad that our "leadership" simply don't care.

She's a presidential candidate, not a miracle worker. There are some problems which are beyond the power of any one person or administration to solve. I don't realistically expect Harris to resolve the tensions between Israel and Palestine, nor do I expect her to end the climate crisis (which is far more important to the future of humankind). Unless Harris wins in a massive blue wave that brings a congressional majority along with it, she'll be hampered at every turn, no matter what she would like to accomplish. Presidents are not kings (at least not yet) and even kings aren't gods.

Just how many world leaders have been involved in trying to resolve them for that past 50 years or so?

The harsh reality is that leaders suck because the voters suck. More genuinely caring, or more left leaning leaders can't get elected in this Country. We got over 74 million voters who actually think Biden is already far too far leftwing for them. It's pretty pointless to yell at dems to be more left when they wouldn't be able to get elected as such.

:word:

Israel gained independence in 1948 (76 years ago). No other President since then has managed to calm the tensions in that region - much if at all. I'm not voting based on Gaza - I hear the same old nonsense from the Trump crowd and I don't think a single one of them have a clue what's involved there.

As with every election, it comes down to a choice depending on what is important to the individual voter. For me, the one and only consideration is the defeat of Donald Trump with such overwhelming numbers that he moves to Venezuela. :geek:

My second priority is electing a President who (a) sane and (b) Is aware of and knowledgeable on history, understanding the diversity of this planet and will do whatever they can to bring peace. We don't know if Kamala can do that. There's no Presidential record for her to run on, so we just judge her on our own experiences and expectations.

My conclusion: She's never been perfect, but she's in a different galaxy of competence compared to the Orange one. I think she deserves a shot.

Unless Harris wins in a massive blue wave
That is our goal, right!? It could solve the Abortion issue (again), define Presidential immunity, & add PR & DC as states with electors and save our democracy all at the same time.

Nancy Pelosi Snaps After CNN Airs Nonsensical Trump Smear of Harris

Don't piss Nancy off!

Tapper brought up the subject by mentioning criticism of how the media has covered Trump’s apparent cognitive decline.

“I’m sure that you hear from progressive voters, Democratic voters who say—as I hear from them on social media—[that] the media made such a big deal out of Joe Biden’s alleged cognitive problems; why don’t they talk about Donald Trump’s cognitive problems?” Tapper said to Pelosi. “Well, Donald Trump talked about that just a second ago, and I want to get your reaction.”

Tapper played a clip of Trump at a rally claiming that Kamala Harris has “got bigger cognitive problems than [Biden] has, in my opinion.”

“Why would you even cover that?” replied Pelosi, clearly annoyed. “This is a person who is not on the level. He is their nominee for president. He is incompetent. Let’s not even talk about the silliness of it all, and the weirdness of it all, and the assault on women that it is.”

The harsh reality is that voters suck because electoral systems suck. Australia uses RCV. I usually vote 1 Green 2 Labor. 80% of Green voters do, but the other 20% vote 1 Green 2 Liberal. (The Liberals are the main party of the right) They want action on climate change but they're economic conservatives. That group is invisible to the polity under first the post.

I agree our electoral system does suck, but don't see it as the core problem as much as education...

If you look at democracies that use FPTP—which are actually quite rare—you’ll find they all tend to show the same divisiveness, take no prisoners campaigning, fantasy politics and very high polarisation. They also have a marked tendency towards alienated and poorly informed electorates, very powerful chief executives and relatively weak legislatures. The explanation cannot be that there’s something in the water.
