It's a bit of both. There is strong evidence of price gouging but there also was a huge expansion in the money supply during COVID which drives real inflation.

A student emailed me yesterday asking if the baseball team could wear Covid to class because they had night practice scheduled immediately afterward. I replied that they may not wear Covid to class but may wear their practice clothes (it's a military academy with uniform codes) and to be aware of autocomplete when typing a message.
