I suspect some leftists are refusing to commit to Biden right now for a variety of reasons but ultimately will vote for him (I'd hope).


Also, it might help rally the left to action if they have the expectation they are in a bit of trouble.... I think the expectation that 2016 was CERTAIN for Hilary caused many to make some bad choices.... I also remember hearing that many Brexit voters voted for it as a joke thinking it had no chance.
