I think it is often (not always) worth it to refute untruths for the sake of any onlookers who might be more on the fence; even if the "troll" is clearly unreachable. In particular, I do think it's worth it to refute the claim Trump managed the economy well because there actually are a lot of people who seriously believe that in good faith due to misinformation.

To my mind, this analysis is very questionable. If someone asked me, "Is the US on the right track?" I'd say no, it's certainly not, precisely because there's a very real danger of Trump winning. But that would mean, had I a vote, I'd be casting it for Kamala Harris because I wanted to avert that catastrophe.
