The top staff investigator for the House Select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol was fired from his position as the top attorney for the University of Virginia by the state’s newly elected Republican attorney general.

A spokesperson for Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares indicated that the removal of Timothy Heaphy from his position was routine. Heaphy was on leave while working for the Jan. 6 panel.
“It is common practice for an incoming administration to appoint new staff that share the philosophical and legal approach of the Attorney General,” Victoria LaCivita, a spokesperson for Miyares’ office, said in a statement to CNBC.

However, Democrats do not see it that way. Virginia state Sen. Scott Surovell told The New York Times, “This is purely payback for Jan. 6 — there is no other reason that makes any sense.”

When do Trump and clan get brought in?
Well, if its like most other sorts of investigations, you start at the bottom and work your way up. I'm just annoyed that we need to find evidence when they admit to their crimes on television, we all saw it happening, and even at the top they are bragging about it. But, I guess the more overconfident criminals are that they got away with it, the more can be thrown at them at the end? The old 'Give them enough rope' trick.

The point about rhetorical questions is...

And then there's Marco Rubio.

Conveniently forgetting that his party had the chance for a fully bipartisan committee, and voted the idea down.
Also, Benghazi..

I noticed a growing trend of admitting guilt in so many words, but refusing to directly say it... I see it a s a battle between their human need to be honest and what they know will get them in trouble and YES, it is cowardly! Reminds me of how Cosby's account of what happened was basically agreeing with everything he was accused of, but he couldn't see himself as "guilty." Or how the Mueller report spelled out how Trump obstructed, but just couldn't use the word "obstructed." Sad how this little bit of denial seems to be good enough for so many people.

Rubio is a an embarrassment.

Then again, if anyone remembers his campaign signs from 2016, it shouldn't be a surprise - little marco was about right

I could barely -read- them, the text was so small. And the rest was white space.

Rubio looks sharp and very official in a suit!!!! !!!!! .... I honestly can't think of anything else he has going for him. He's not just out and out insane like many in the GQP, but nobody was every that impressed with him.

Probably because, much like Cruz, he's a freaking coward - also, Rubio is up for re-election this year and so can't do like Scott and do things like condemn the nazi rallys in Orlando, or anything.

Fucking genius child.

I spent a good few moments going 'Wait, what, in a firefly captain sort of way. Why is a grown man, who was in the highest levels of Government still on his parents' phone plan?

Also, why haven't they disowned his antisemitic ass?

I assume lots of people go onto/remain on family plans well into their adulthood because it makes for cheap service. If he's not chipping in for it makes him an asshole (also, using it as excuse to keep the committee from getting his call records is a bit of tomfuckery).

As for the second Q...They're imbeciles?
