I've become pretty hardened about dumb comments in social media. There is this guy that really pissed me off on reddit today though. I live in South Jersey <--- and Camden is the town with the most problems near here. I made an innocuous post and this guy comes around with his horrid comments about Camden. I looked at his post history and in the first two pages there are half a dozen comments such as in response to:

South Jersey man donates free books on the streets of Camden, New Jersey - 6abc Philadelphia
Ain't nobody in Camden wanna read books with no pictures lol

I quoted some of his crappy comments and said what an asshole he is. Though the way reddit works, I had put my comment below one of his dumbass posts and since most people on reddit agreed that buried his comment and everything below it including mine.

Yay for reddit upvoting my comments and downvoting his. It really pissed me off though.

Reels and such can be amusing if they move along sans intentional delays e.g. going to scare my gf so I hide in the cabinet then she comes in and spends an eternity staring at the counter, running water for no apparent reason, looking in the fridge nine times to remove one item, opening every other cabinet in the kitchen, yawn

My scroll reaction has backed up to staring at the counter for more than five seconds.

I also started Xing sponsored, suggested for you, and such things a few days ago and my feeds have cleared remarkably. Hiding ads actually seems to let me see fewer ads as well. And I don't know who these people I may know are supposed to be; who the hell are these people!?

Some TikTok users may have skipped reviewing an update to TikTok's terms of service this summer that shakes up the process for filing a legal dispute against the app. According to The New York Times, changes that TikTok "quietly" made to its terms suggest that the popular app has spent the back half of 2023 preparing for a wave of legal battles.

In July, TikTok overhauled its rules for dispute resolution, pivoting from requiring private arbitration to insisting that legal complaints be filed in either the US District Court for the Central District of California or the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Los Angeles. Legal experts told the Times this could be a way for TikTok to dodge arbitration claims filed en masse that can cost companies millions more in fees than they expected to pay through individual arbitration.

Perhaps most significantly, TikTok also added a section to its terms that mandates that all legal complaints be filed within one year of any alleged harm caused by using the app. The terms now say that TikTok users "forever waive" rights to pursue any older claims. And unlike a prior version of TikTok's terms of service archived in May 2023, users do not seem to have any options to opt out of waiving their rights.
