They will make laws criminalizing going across a state border to obtain an abortion while they wait on the presidency and senate in 2024 to enact a federal ban. I was thinking that they might well be shooting themselves in the foot by taking away one of their wedge issues, but I realized that they're not done. They still hate many things and people which can be used as bait. Also, the electorate has changed in many ways recently. We have folks who have no issue whatsoever now with the idea of full out authoritarianism or fascism. The traditional red bait isn't needed for their votes.

Reading through your elaborated post I can kinda see what your ultimate end objective is, and while I’m not sure this approach will be the most successful in motivating support and change, I’m fairly certain it’s bad timing for this approach.

While provoking anger, or tough love if that indeed is what you are intending, can be useful tools it requires good timing and a level of trust that doesn’t appear to currently be the case.

In a discussion on fascism in the 20th Century on NPR last week, it was said that one of the primary characteristics of 20th Century fascism was the suppression of women's rights, compelling us to become baby machines and rewarding success in that biological arena. We are probably going to have to defend ourselves against American fascism for a good long time. We are hanging on by our nails from it at this point. If states like New York or California ever head down this anti-woman road, we Americans will land in some form of theocratic fascism. I won't see it, but my children and grandchildren will. All I know is that I'll struggle against it as long as I live.
