The Republicans already paint Biden as a socialist and socialism as the ultimate evil, synonymous with communism. If he were to adopt a more socialist agenda, the next president would be a Trumpliban horror and possibly dictator for real, and undo every good thing this administration did manage to get done.
He's also got to fight not only the Republicans, but the Republicans in Democrats' clothing, to get anything done.
The situation sinks, but it's what it is, and Biden didn't make it that way.
