Here's an interesting brutality trial: a German journalist supposedly attacked police officers, so they put him on a trial before court. He was sick for five weeks due to injuries, his camera damaged and broken.

All involved police officers told the judge that the journalist was provoking them, has attacked them first with his camera and that's the reason why he fell flat on the ground. An internal investigation of the police also came to the same conclusion. So all running good for the cops.

The accused remained mostly silent, until his time came and he played his trump card: he had video recordings of the affair, which he only disclosed before the gathering of evidence was finished. He didn't show it before, because he explained a) he wanted to give room for internal investigations first, and b) he feared if he had disclosed it before that the police man would have arranged their testimonies against him.

But due to this the cops were utterly unprepared and, and the video evidence spoke for itself: first there was some verbal tension between the cop and journalist, but nothing more. Indeed the attack was done by the police, pushing the journalist to the ground and strangling him, which also was visible on the video.

One cop, which lied in favor for his colleague, then had a collapse in the court room and was brought to the nearest hospital.

Both cops are now facing consequences due to the clear evidence.

Pray tell, they forgot to confiscate evidence? - A black day for Germany's police schools - apparently they let every idiot pass these days...

Among the chief petitioners is Portland Police Association president Daryl Turner, the police union’s attorney Anil Karia and Rep. Jeff Barker, D-Aloha.

The initiative is titled “protect free speech and safe streets.” It seeks to establish more expansive criteria for a city to institute time, place and manner restrictions on the freedom of assembly.

In Florida, this is standard operating procedure. They name ballot initiatives and amendments in such a matter as to make people think they are voting for the opposite of what they actually are voting.

George Floyd was killed by the police after a teenage store assistant called them after he paid with counterfeit currency at the family-owned convenience store where he was a regular.

This article describes the aftermath for both the assistant and the family whose store it is

Reinoehl’s ensuing death — justified or not — also raises questions about President Donald Trump’s tendency to talk about law enforcement as a political tool and to portray police as responding to his agenda rather than doing their jobs independent of politics.

An hour before Reinoehl died, the president called on Portland police to arrest the “cold blooded killer” of Jay Danielson. “Do your job, and do it fast,” he tweeted.

More than a week later, the president described Reinoehl’s killing as “retribution.” At the end of September, in his first debate with former Vice President Joe Biden, Trump claimed, erroneously, “I sent in the U.S. Marshals, they took care of business.”

LOL remember how that dick Cameron stood up there and was like "the grand jury was presented with all of the evidence and it just didn't justify homicide charges" against Breonna Taylor's killers?

Juror: Grand jury was forbidden from considering homicide charges

That one guy on the side they indicted for wanton endangerment? That guy was the only guy they were allowed to make a decision on. They even asked about homicide charges and were rebuffed by the prosecutor.

I 'knew' he was a crap lawyer, or tried to get the verdict he got. Why? That's what I was told in law school, and what I have seen in my working life.

grand juries almost always return an indictment as requested by the prosecutor. According to a U.S. Department of Justice study on plea bargaining, “Grand juries are notorious for being ‘rubberstamps’ for the prosecutor for virtually all routine criminal matters.” (Plea Bargaining: Critical Issues and Common Practices, by William F. McDonald, (U.S. DOJ, National Institute of Justice, 1985).)

There was that tiny bit of 'but they were cops', but still, I was leaning towards the guy being a crap lawyer or got the verdict he wanted.
