I'm tempted to say it's honestly not worth it, and she should go download and install The Sims 4 and never look back.

But instead, I'll explain that my feelings on Second Life in 2025 are mixed - naturally - but overall they're positive. While the past 4 years may not have seen revolutionary improvements, there have been a lot of evolutionary, subtle refinements from both the Lab and the work of my fellow users. And I'll point out that rather than dropping her hard earned cash to evaluate if it's all worth it, she can try experimenting with the starter pack. Also there's still freebies to be found, if you look hard enough for them, and I'll probably gather up some links and landmarks to point her to the good ones.

Because like any addict, I'm abusive and manipulative and want nothing more than to drag others down with me.

The current update of LL's viewer gives us a new "one click" installation process. But for me it keeps forgetting that it's already been installed. Days ago. Now, every time I restart the viewer, it wants to reinstall itself, with no option to ignore the update and just log in. So my "one click" install has become something like seventeen clicks over the past several days.

Tonight I'm informed I cannot rez an object ON MY OWN LAND. Since the object is no copy, I have to log out and back in to see it again in Inventory. Which means I get to reinstall the viewer I already have installed all over again. This has now happened to me THREE TIMES.

So.

I've decided I'm missing something important on television tonight. So I'm doing that now.

I just submitted my first support texture to a vendor.

The item was L$25.

I spent 20 or so minutes on the snaps and editing the image together, and then 40% of the purchase price to upload it. But creatively it was worth it.
