The police scanner has said "The UHaul is hot" and were worried. They say there is movement inside the building. All schools in Jersey City are on lockdown. Very active situation. They let the orange one know about this like he could do anything.

This guy has the police scanner going.

"One officer has been killed. Two others injured, one civilian injured" - cbs

They also said that two suspects are being searched for, a man and a woman but another report said one suspect was dead.

History may not exactly repeat itself, but it often rhymes. Somebody tell me why we should be trusting our officials on anything regarding these wars?
Well this report is more or less just confirming what was already back then widely known when the invasion started 18 years ago: the government lied at least partially to the public and America had no real clue what they were doing and why.

And they continue to lie, putting their apparatchiks out on the TV to continue to scare us shitless into continuing war and other conflicts that are of OUR making.

This is a very informative interview with Noam Chomsky, who discusses foreign policy a lot, including Russia, Syria, and Venezuela. It's a very useful and refreshing perspective, including a lot of history.

All these modern wars are wars ultimately of our making. We don't give two shits about human rights, it's all about power. It's a valuable opinion, but I'm sure a lot of people will dismiss it as "Russian talking points" because a nation with 1/10th of our GDP and 1/10th of our military spending that we've essentially surrounded is really going to take over the world.

Yes, that's been true since at least the Vietnam war, and after but not including WWII. My history isn't good on in between.

Didn't take Twitter followers long to find the guy's name, Facebook page, Twitter account, and employer's name. Tommy Calloway is going to pay heavily for that fleeting but highly visible moment of White Male Entitlement.

Good call. I haven't visited the crater of an active volcano in 50 years.
Obviously I was joking, but when I lived in Seattle, I climbed halfway up Mt Rainier, which is still considered active, and have visited Mt. St. Helen's visiting area several times. The dome growing in that crater is visible evidence of it being very active. Not many people know this, but the Green River Valley, which leads to Puget Sound near Seattle, is the result of a mud flow from the *last* eruption of Mt. Rainier, 70 miles away. Volcano + Glaciers = very mobile mud. The result is a flat valley, where the Boeing Kent Plant I used to work at is located. If we ever heard Rainier was becoming active, the advice was "head for the hills" to get above the flooding. Kent Plant is in the middle of this clip.

The "entry level" for the 1% is $328,500
So just to throw numbers around the top 5 richest people in the country have 434 billion dollars

Jeff Bezos: $114 billion.
Bill Gates: $106 billion.
Warren Buffett: $80.8 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg: $69.6 billion.
Larry Ellison: $65 billion.

If we divide that up to make a bunch more 1%ers earning $328,000 each there would be 1.3 million of them.

Jersey City update

As many as six people may be dead — including a police officer, two suspects and three civilians — during an "ambush" active shooter situation at a store in Jersey City Tuesday afternoon, officials and law enforcement sources said.

Law enforcement sources identified the dead officer as a 39-year-old married father of five, Det. Joseph Seals.

According to three senior law enforcement officials, the shoot-out began as a possible homicide investigation. The deceased officer approached suspects in that investigation and was shot and killed. The suspects then fled into the Jersey City Kosher Supermarket on Martin Luther King Drive, where the standoff started around 12:30 p.m.

Kelly said that the preliminary investigation suggests Seals was killed "while trying to interdict the bad guys at that other location," which Kelly subsequently identified as a cemetery on Garfield Avenue.

A law enforcement source said the suspects were holed up in a bodega for hours, one of whom was armed with a long gun.

Four other people were thought to be inside the bodega, the senior official said, stressing the highly preliminary nature of the evolving investigation. There were at least three civilians killed inside the store as well, a law enforcement source tells NBC New York. Citing the preliminary investigation, Kelly said that authorities believe the civilians killed inside the store where killed by the "bad guys."

Kelly said that the preliminary investigation shows one stolen U-Haul vehicle that "may contain an incendiary device" and has since been taken from the location and was being examined by bomb squad members.

The other two locations that most be combed through for evidence is the grocery store itself and the cemetery, Kelly said.

Obviously I was joking,
I'm not. I think it was about '77 or '78. Anyway, back in the '70s you could walk into Kilauea crater right up to the edge of Halemaumau. I suspect that's not allowed any more.

I have a book somewhere about the eruption of Mt St Helens and how some of the recovered bodies were still wearing "I survived Mt St Helens" tee-shirts. You wouldn't get me anywhere near the crater of an active volcano again. It's probably safer than rush hour but it would be such an embarrassing way to go.

Yeah, Kilauea went through some....severe changes, last year. Some of the most dramatic were at Halemaumau. The lava lake - in fact, the whole floor of Halemaumau, collapsed and sunk as lava at the summit found an exit and drained to the flank at Lower Puna, causing eruptive fissures there that destroyed a small neighborhood.
