Yes, the New York Post is on it.

A democracy, a republic, whatever you want to label the U.S. of A., it's obvious current Republican leaders fucking hate it to its core.
Funny how they want to invoke the 14th on Mamdani for calling to resist ICE, but not invoke it on Trump for literally inciting an insurrection against the Capitol. Fucking hypocrites!

Does he think New Yorkers fleeing the election of a Democratic Socialist mayor are Democratic Socialists? It would make more sense for Texas to help conservative buisness owners and professionals relocate to Texas.

Maybe it's simply that he's seen all the propaganda and fears an influx of Jews from New York trying to escape from Mamadni by moving to Texas. The main reason, as far as I can tell, that the US right are so supportive of Zionism is that that they would like American Jews to relocate there.

"Barack and I were being portrayed as Black people who didn’t understand the ‘rules’ of the rarefied world we had found ourselves in and were not unequivocally welcomed into.” Obama also reveals struggles within her own team around the “the angry Black” woman stereotype. At one point on the campaign trail, the Obamas’ communications team suggested she modify her facial expressions.
Michelle Obama’s book details how the media’s fixation on her arms was used to ‘otherize’ her

Why would anyone want to relocate to Texas? It's got a fascist administration, a complete ban on abortion, and is full of heavily armed crackpots and Christian nationalists.
I agree with that so much I can't muster the right words.

HOWEVER, I already live in "lukewarm hell" in Kansas rather than "fiery pit" in Texas. Hell is a matter of degree.

My favorite nephew lives near Austin, now, with his boyfriend. As a trans 20-something in Texas, I fear for him every day but he chose to move down there to be with his partner. His choice. I'm behind him and still afraid for him.

In order for Revelations to kick off and Supply Side Jesus to return, all of the Jews need to return to Israel so that God can kill them. That is the logic behind American Evangelical "support" of Israel.

There isn't much difference aside from prairie dogs and burrow owls.
Decades ago I was spending a lot of time in Texas when they were debating making open alcohol containers in vehicles illegal. Believe it or not, this was quite controversial. (Texas is a place with drive-thru liquor stores, so ....)

One of the major arguments against the ban was, essentially, "Are you out of your damn mind?? Have you ever driven across West Texas?" If any of you find this laughable or even insane, I suspect you have never driven across West Texas.

The arguments that Trump didn't violate the 14th (which are nonsense) are that you have to be an "officer" of the United states and must be explicitly convicted of insurrection. These obviously apply to Mamdani too, but I don't expect them to be that consistent...

And yet when I was at Texas Tech, Lubbock was still dry. Texas is weird.

Dallas was officially dry, too -- you paid something like $5 to "join the private club" at whatever bar in which you wanted a drink.

One more surreal detail from my time working next door to Dealy Plaza, almost literally in the shadow of the Texas Book Depository, where once a year the streets were lined in pink Cadillacs for the Mary Kay convention. I was more or less living in the Doubletree, the exterior of which served as "JR's office building" on the TV show Dallas.

Texas is, as you say, weird.

Polls close at 9pm.
I’m living vicariously through the NYC election since the candidate I voted for Sunday in my own city lost. :(
Over 1.7 million people had cast their ballots in New York City by 6 p.m. Tuesday - with hours more to go before the polls close - but already far outstripping the 1.1 million who voted in the 2021 election.
