The world in which those people move is as remote from that of the rest of us as must have that between aristocrats and the working classes in Victorian England, or even well before that, and yet at the same time, she writes very powerfully of the sheer petty vindictive nastiness of the US prison bureaucracy. It's also enjoyable to see her knife so many of her equally unpleasant former acquaintances.

And she was snubbed by Ghislaine Maxwell. Tee hee.

Having myself been a passenger on a boat that sank in Lake Travis -- many years ago, so many years ago -- my laughter is rueful.

We had a several hundred boat parade on the St. Croix / Mississippi rivers today as well and without incident. I can only guess that with so many Gernans and Scandihoovians up here everyone obeyed the no-wake speed limit (I swear, it seems like people get in line up here to even protest), or people got VERY lucky. The rivers are in gorge with deep bluffs on both sides (this was the drainage channel for the ancient lake Agazi during the latest ice age) so there were no winds as well and the river level is tightly controlled by locks so that must have been a factor as well.

Trump said at a press briefing on Friday that he intended to “look at it very seriously” when asked about Navalny’s poisoning.

When pressed about how the United States should react, the President said “I think we will,” while simultaneously appearing to cast doubt about whether or not the Russian government had been involved in the opposition leaders poisoning.

“I don’t know exactly what happened,” Trump said as he often does when he doesn’t want to assume responsibility to call out those whom he views as potential allies.

“I think it’s tragic. It’s terrible, it shouldn’t happen. We haven’t had any proof yet, but I will take a look,” Trump added.

They refuse to wear them for pretty much the same reason they refuse to wear masks, or make a show of pointing loaded guns at their crotches after people tell them not to do that.
