I think it's because the Grinch has a redemption arc. He did all he could to ruin Whoville's Christmas, but then he discovers he has a conscience, puts it all back, and tries to make it even better.Wren Day is still celebrated in some areas and by most harpists because harpists. Backing up a few posts, the Grinch *is* a Christmas Hero in the US for some unfathomable reason. The character has steadily grown in popularity over the past forty years and may ultimately supplant Santa Claus as we call him. He's more Krampus than St. Nicholas and that appeals to the population for some unfathomable reason. My personal preference of Christmas characters is Ebenezer Scrooge. I do love a Christmas Carol in all, well most, of its representations Bill Murray (not the derivative Grinch) included.
I have that Christmas tree up all year round.
LA! LA! La la la la LA!I think it's because the Grinch has a redemption arc. He did all he could to ruin Whoville's Christmas, but then he discovers be has a conscience, puts it all back, and true to make it even better.
Also, he stops mistreating his dog.
'Scrooged' is good, but I have a soft spot for the Alistair Sim Christmas Carol version.
His redeemed Scrooge Christmas morning is marvelous.
Also, Mister Magoo.
Alastair Sim is the best evah and will always be the upper bar.
I'm tempted to post that on Facebook just to see if the guy who got offended at my general holiday post last year laughs, or loses his shirt.
I enjoyed the Rhapsody music streaming service particularly because it allowed me to say to it, in effect, "Never play this piece of music for me again." It's successor Napster has eliminated that important function. I'm too invested (playlists, custom streams) in Napster now to switch, but I might reconsider if I found a streaming service that did incorporate that important "Never!" function. That's why I love to use Spotify. I saw All I Want For Christmas a gazillion times on playlists, but so far I managed to always skip that song this season.
Yeah, some of them fall down badly in the "never suggest this, EVER" department. Amazon music has a "discover this" playlist. I read down the list and there was some band 'featuring Ted Nugent'. Hard pass. No way to remove that band from the list or all for such a thing that I could see.I enjoyed the Rhapsody music streaming service particularly because it allowed me to say to it, in effect, "Never play this piece of music for me again." Doesn't Spotify have that feature?I enjoyed the Rhapsody music streaming service particularly because it allowed me to say to it, in effect, "Never play this piece of music for me again."
