I would not have expected a "Gritty Dark Reboot" of Frech Prince of Bel-Air, especially helmed by Will Smith himself, but here we are.

Due to a state of emergency during this year's NFL playoff season (cable TV died the night before a Bengals playoff game), I subscribed to Hulu for a month (to get access to pre-game shows during the one day it took to get our cable box fixed). To get my money's worth, I spent the next few weeks browsing through the Hulu offerings to watch anything that was even remotely appealing.

What We Do in the Shadows -- the TV series rather than the movie -- was a moderately funny parody of the vampire genre. I made it from 1st to about midway 2nd season before I got bored. If you're already subscribed to Hulu, I'd recommend watching at least a few episodes.

You might want to avoid People of Earth, however. I loved this show, I found it funny and endearing, but it runs for only 2 seasons and then ends on a major cliffhanger. And that's it. The renewal for third season was dropped after the scripts were written, but before the season was filmed. So that's a major downer. I'm not sorry I watched it, but YMMV.

I put together a dataset of various streaming service library sizes the other day, just for fun. I got the data from going to justwatch.com and clicking on individual providers in the US. Here's the page I used for that.

The only service I use regularly that I don't have numbers on is Pluto. Also, to get Amazon numbers I added Amazon Prime and IMDBtv Amazon numbers together, because Prime is free with prime, and IMDBtv is all the stuff that's free with ads. Amazon Video is digital rental and sales titles, which I'm not interested in. The largest libraries on justwatch are digital rental and sales libraries, but I never use them. I only use subscription or ad based networks.

So I've been browsing over these services, and thinking about what makes a good streaming service. I don't think it's library size, although library size does help. I love surfing Tubi. I consider Vudu to be lower quality than even Disney+, though. Peacock's free tier is more impressive than I expected it to be. I might drop HBO and go to Peacock.

Remember when we thought Disney+ would dominate because they bought 21st Century Fox? Ironically, Tubi is owned by Fox Entertainment, which is made up of all the stuff Disney left on the table in that deal.

Here's a cheat sheet for where the old big 4 network content is now:

ABC: Disney+
NBC: Vudu, Peacock, (NBC also has a minority share in Hulu)
CBS: Paramount+, Pluto
Fox: Tubi, Disney+

Interesting take on the Cyrano story, and Peter Dinklage is always good.
I don't know if I'm up to sitting in a movie theater yet , though. Not with any amount of people there.

Sally Kellerman, the Oscar and Emmy nominated actor who played Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan in director Robert Altman's 1970 film “MASH," died Thursday.

Kellerman died of heart failure at her home in the Woodland Hills section of Los Angeles, her manager and publicist Alan Eichler said. She was 84.

Servant of the People is the show that Zelensky starred in, where an average person became president of Ukraine. It's free on Youtube.

If you want to watch it, with English subtitles, this is the only playlist on YouTube where I've found a way to do that, but it's not totally intuitive. This playlist has regular English subtitles for the first couple episodes, but after that, you need to translate to Russian and then auto-translate off of Russian to English.

On a PC:

1. Hit the settings cog at the bottom of the video.

2. Hit Subtitles > Russian. This closes the settings popup thingy.

3. Hit Settings, again > Subtitles > Auto-translate
