We didn't get British TV until a few years after release, so for me the novelization showed up before the show.

Yeah, let's go! And remember: this came out in 1964 in the UK, and was labeled as children television. Doctor Who started in 1963, but the special effects in Doctor Who of that time are just clunky compared to what Thunderbird achieved.

What is really awesome is the pacing of the story. We get build up, stress increases, decreases in stress rinse repeat until the conclusion. Timing that works wonderfully in an hour long show! When Thunderbirds was on Fox Kids in the states, over half of it was cut out to fit the Thunderbirds Fast Forward half hour slot and allow for segements of the live action kids to be spliced in to tell IR key facts/what to do. That made the show almost unfollowable and was just pure crap of an effort.

Of course if a show is written for a half hour slot, it will work much better, as we found out with the fairly recent Thunderbirds Are Go series. Hats off to WETA for doing wonderful miniature sets and the CGI used for characters is married into it with almost no flaws.

FILMED IN SUPERMARIONATION

I actually read the novelization of that episode before I had a chance to see it, and there was all kinds of plot-bunny background information in it.

I think we still had a black and white TV at the time.
Lucky! The only book I ever came across was UFO 1. It was just the novelization for 3 episodes of Anderson's UFO series. Oddly it covers episode 1 Identified, episode 11 Close Up and episode 20 Court Martial.

By the way this is what Gerry Anderson and team came up with after Thunderbirds: "UFO", a live action scifi series. About aliens, of course.

And a few years later "Space: 1999", about a moon base.

Space 1999 was one of the first SciFi series I watched as it aired. Even as a kid I wondered why they couldn't just take the Eagles back to Earth if they were fast enough to catch up to the Moon as it transited different systems.

But the Eagles are one of my favorite ship designs still, up there with the Babylon 5 Star Fury.

Ha, I saw the Eagle cockpit on the underwater exploration craft, nice little homage.

More of the punching yourself in the face effect for the benefit to pay corporations to just watch stuff online.

In summary, Peacock and Crunchyroll are bumping prices, Netflix is cutting their UK/Canadian lowest cost ad-free plan (while dropping plan subscribers to their lowest ad-based plan), and Fubo has dropped almost 20 channels. Nothing too horrible.

Meanwhile, drip drip drip.

There's also the call back to Stingray as the comsat is put into stable orbit. Another homage to the original Thunderbirds series is in the launch area for TB1. There's a lemon juicer on the wall.

I liked the Stingray, though more the 1964 version rather than the modern.

The '56 Thurderbird was also nice, though after roughly around that year, it became more of a boat.

Um, Doctor Who's new season (err, series) will be streaming on Disney+? How is such a co-mingling of the streams allowed to happen? I mean I'm not against it, and it means I don't have yet another service to subscribe to if I want to watch a single show on it.

(Is it off Britbox now?)

Britbox has gone, swallowed up by another streaming service, ItvX. I was watching Classic Who on Britbox, and have managed to pick it up again with ItvX, but I don't know about New Who (was that ever on Britbox?)

Disney stepped in to help finance the new season. Dr Who has relied on partners outside of BBC for additional funding for a long time now.

Classic Dr. Who's are on Tubi Tubi. We are currently, hmm, I don't know, just left Paris after defeating the Jageroth and can't remember what is next. We recently completed the Key to Time super arc and that was fun! It'll be nice until Tegan. She seriously grates the nerves she does.

AND THEN SHE COMES BACK1

During dinner tonight, I logged into Netflix and started watching Unfrosted, Jerry Seinfeld's recent effort. For the past few days I'd been hearing grumblings online about how bad it is, but I thought with all the comedic talent involved, how could it turn out...

OMG THIS THING IS A COMEDY TRAIN WRECK.

I turned away after the first 20 minutes. It didn't give me a laugh, or a giggle, or even a smirk. And boy was it trying. In my opinion, Unfrosted is Unfunny. At least the first 20 minutes is. I don't see how things could improve enough to make it worth the effort to keep watching.

Netflix is dead to me, I will not subscribe to it for a long time. I quitted it 3 monghs ago because it was too boring and used the basic ad free AD option for 7.99/month. Since this is gone I would have to pay now 13.99 for the cheapest ad free experience.

No thank you, go fuck yourself you greedy bastards.
