I'm in a sort of weird mode. I wanted some dark, dark comedy tonight. I got it with Serial Mom. I'm a John Waters fan and a dark comedy fan but never saw it. It is dark. Or it was so dark when it was made. Nowadays parts don't work because of how maladjusted things are. It was entertaining but I think I'll go to sleep now.

Not much here except it's due November 30, Joanne Whalley is in it (will...Madmartigan...?!), and appears it's a continuation of the movie's plot. Visually good looking, though
I saw recently on Reddit that Val Kilmer has some sort of disease and basically can't speak anymore. So sadley, probably no Madmartigan, unless they recast him.

We were told that we needed to read volumes of comics to have any hope of remotely understanding the current movies but that proved untrue.

OK, it's a British TV station nobody (literally, at times, according to the viewing figures) watches, but it is Piers Morgan.

This seems inefficient.

I was able to pretty much completely fail to grasp all 473 hours (estimated) of the Lord of The Rings movies without reading any more Tolkien than enough paragraphs of The Hobbit to decide to gently but firmly "set it aside."

Of course it didn't make sense to you since you didn't read the Silamarillian in the original Qenya.*

*Tolkien created a spoken language for the Elves based largely on Welsh, but created a second language, Qenya, for poetry and literature that borrowed heavily from Finnish.

Netflix continues their downward spiral. I'm trying to think... I don't think I remember anybody from the first tech bust imploding this spectacularly. Yahoo and AOL went down fast when they went down, and Pets.com never went anywhere past the hype. Those failures were from market forces, and new technologies, though. Netflix doesn't have that excuse. They are just playing russian roulette with an automatic pistol.

I was just watching this video about Russia's bizarre close-combat sniper rifle, and the way they describe the development of the rifle reminds me of the Pentagon Wars.

The Pentagon Wars is a hilarious military spoof, made in 1988, about the development of the Bradley tank, and how it's really not any good at anything, except making military contractors money. It's a fun little hidden gem I discovered on HBO Max a while back, starring Cary Elwes, only a year after he did the Princess Bride.

If you haven't been following the Morbius situation... basically, it's a bad movie, but the internet gaslit Sony into re-releasing it in theaters, because it's funny, and Sony made like 50 cents on the re-release, or something stupid like that. Philip Defranco has the best concise explanation of how this happened. It wasn't a petition to Sony or anything. The phrase "it's Morbin time" was repeated online, a lot, because could have been a terrible line from the movie (it was never said in the film, but people were laughing that it could have been a real line). The Sony AI saw that a phrase about the movie went viral, and Sony's AI was too dumb to notice that people were using it ironically. Also, no humans noticed this, so they wasted a lot of money on a terrible idea.

The story isn't totally over yet, though! Now we have a new petition, to re-re-release Morbius, again. This would be a third release, because everybody was busy the weekend of the second release. This petition has almost 6000 signatures in 3 days, LOL

Huh, I thought that was about the Victorian slang "the morbs" that has been going around lately.

Its amusing, but it still feels like the number of films on release is at a minimum, so I wouldn't be surprised if a re-release had always been planned just to fill the gap.

I'm a little depressed because I had really wanted to see Everything Everywhere All at Once in a theater. It really feels like that kind of movie. However, when it first came out it wasn't playing anywhere close to me, and then when it started getting lots of foot traffic and the theaters it was playing at ballooned, I couldn't make it a showing.

So I just purchased it for streaming and I'll definitely enjoy it for my big weekend entertainment event, but there still feels like I missed something.
