If you haven't been following the Morbius situation... basically, it's a bad movie, but the internet gaslit Sony into re-releasing it in theaters, because it's funny, and Sony made like 50 cents on the re-release, or something stupid like that.
Philip Defranco has the best concise explanation of how this happened. It wasn't a petition to Sony or anything. The phrase "it's Morbin time" was repeated online, a lot, because could have been a terrible line from the movie (it was never said in the film, but people were laughing that it could have been a real line). The Sony AI saw that a phrase about the movie went viral, and Sony's AI was too dumb to notice that people were using it ironically. Also, no humans noticed this, so they wasted a lot of money on a terrible idea.
The story isn't totally over yet, though! N
ow we have a new petition, to re-re-release Morbius, again. This would be a third release, because everybody was busy the weekend of the second release. This petition has almost 6000 signatures in 3 days, LOL
