"The Fanatic" is about a movie star's creepy-stalky fan who becomes more and more aggressive in seeking his idol's attention, which seems like it might be an interesting premise, and is supposedly inspired by Durst's own experience with such a stalker. But it's worth noting that there's a 1996 movie called "The Fan" where Robert DeNiro stalks Wesley Snipes which sounds like the exact same movie, just with a baseball player being stalked rather than a movie star and the word "fanatic" shortened to "fan" for the title.

Interrresting. I've not read Doctor Sleep yet, but from the trailer it looks that the film is at least partially informed by the original Shining film and not just the book. I mean I'm aware the book this is based on is a sequel to The Shining, it's just interesting that this looks like it's intended to be a sequel to the film too.

So, we rented and watched The Hustle, with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson. Apparently it's a remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Turns out Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is on Hulu.

They were not kidding about remake. It's not just a "We took the idea and mixed it up". It's literally scene by scene the same movie with Anne Hathaway as Michael Caine and Rebel Wilson as Steve Martin. Oh wait, Rebel pretends to be blind instead of crippled.

It's been a while since I watched the film version of The Shining...I know Jack's death was different, but did the boiler not explode and burn down the hotel like in the book? Because, while Danny does return to the former site of the Overlook in Doctor Sleep, there's no hotel left there to roam around.

I presume Kubrick didn't have the budget to blow up the entire hotel for the camera, so the thing about having to maintain the boiler was just left out. And this new movie of course is going to be a direct sequel of that one.

If Kubrick had wanted to blow up the Overlook, Kubrick would have blown up the Overlook. He wasn't the sort of film maker that let niceties like budgetary constraints interfere with his vision. The fact of the matter is, Kubrick just had very different ideas about the story of The Shining to the ones King wrote down and for whatever reason, those ideas involved the Overlook not burning down.*

I started re-watching Agents of SHIELD over a week ago on Netflix and by doing so have a new appreciation of the show even though some things took too long to resolve and some writing wasn't the best. I've gotten a little past the end of the first arc of season 4 (Ghost Rider). Only question I have so far is what happened to the Inhuman that's the brother of the Inhuman hating Senator? After what happened to him he hasn't been seen or talked about again as far as I can remember.
