So, there is this episode of Law and Order SVU on and its, actually called "Avatar". The investigation leads them to this online world, very Second Life like. I found it amusing.

What was kind of extra amusing was how disgusted Olivia was with the woman she was talking to who used to world. "You can be anything and you choose to be a prostitute?"

Also later they were talking about it with the other detectives and it was something like, "So they have a cartoon person and have cartoon sex for cartoon money." They also talked about how much other cartoon stuff you could buy like land etc.

Anyway, it was amusing. It also reminded me a bit of my main annoyance with the show, especially Olivia at times, because she basically sees literally any sex as evil as far as I can tell. I suppose it's realistic given her profession, but also it seems like she almost always jumps immidiately to "This was rape." At least for the show's part, she is in fact, sometimes wrong in her assumptions.
Olivia's backstory includes the fact that she was raped herself. IIRC sexually abused by her father too.

Yeah it does. It probably does make sense from a writing perspective. From a narrative perspective it sometimes kind of feels like "pushy bad cop". Especially because more than once she starts basically getting belligerent towards some of the victims to say something was rape when it may not have been.

We have been watching through a lot of Marvel movies, and before watching Spider-Man No way home, we watched the older Spider-Mans. I forgot how much I liked Andrew Garfield's movies. It kind of makes me dislike Tom Holland. Tom.Holland is a pretty good Spider-Man, but Andrew Garfield is really good.

I also really really like his chemistry with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy.

Chuck Norris turned 85 today! Happy Birthday!

Chuck Norris portrayed himself as a tough guy in the movies but had nothing on Johnny Cash.

10 Reason Why Johnny Cash Owns Chuck Norris

Reason 1.
Only one man who has ever lived has been bad enough to be called “The Man In Black” and it wasn’t Chuck Norris

Reason 2.
Johnny didn’t have to fight to be a bad ass. He just had to pick up a beer bottle and a guitar.

Reason 3.
Norris made a bunch of films where he killed folks. Johnny Cash went to Folsom Prison and did a concert. You tell me which one takes more balls.

Reason 4.
Chuck wasn’t the first of his kind to kick ass. Johnny was the first rock star to set something on fire. While most artists only set their hotel rooms on fire, Johnny took it one step further and burned down half a national forest.

Reason 5.
When Chuck was five, he was a normal five year old. Johnny had already earned man points by working in his dad’s cotton fields. That is a true bad ass. By the time he was six, Cash did more hard work than most men do in their whole life.

Reason 6.
Chuck never got stabbed in the back by a woman. Johnny never stopped bleeding. Chuck may have gotten punched a few times, but Johnny knew what real pain was.

Reason 7.
Chuck is a republican. Johnny was close with every president except for GWB. It was said he just didn’t trust that son of a #$%*. When Johnny didn’t trust someone, you just knew something foul was going on.

Reason 8.
Johnny was invited to play the at White House in 1972 for Richard Nixon. He was given a list of politically correct songs to sing. He instead metaphorically threw up his middle finger at the establishment, in true ShoutWire fashion, and sang a set full of left leaning, politically charged tunes. Chuck Norris has never told the president to #$%* off in his own house.

Reason 9.
Chuck Norris made a lot of crappy movies. Johnny Cash never touched anything that didn’t turn to gold. In the 80’s, he made a song called “Chicken in Black” to get himself out of a record deal. Even that became popular.

Reason 10.
Johnny is the only man in history to decline painkillers after a double bypass heart surgery. He knew he liked drugs too god damn much and wouldn’t stop. That shows power over an addiction previously not seen before. Kicking a ninja's ass is easy compared to kicking a drug's ass.

The first three episodes of Andor Season 1 have been made officially available to watch for free on the Disney+ YouTube channel.

If you haven't seen any of it yet, it's well worth a watch, as I dare say it's probably the best thing to come from Star Wars since.. well.. maybe the Empire Strikes Back! It deserves a wider audience I think and almost stands on its own as a sci-fi series in its own right.

Searching for Mr. Rugoff

Mr. (Don) Rugoff distributed art films from the mid 60's to mid 70's. When the producer of this film searched for his name he found nothing and made this. Mr. Rugoff found many unknown works and made them wildly popular. The studios of that time were quite conventional. He was not. I don't even know where to begin. He was passionate about the movies he loved and would do most anything to get them on screen. Most of these films would be unknown if not for him. Every movie I know in the list below is great. That includes Putney Swope, Trash, Woman in the Dunes, Love and Death, Annie Hall, Greaser's Palace, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Scenes from a Marriage and Harlan County USA. I watched the movie a second time to write down all the references. That will keep me movie watching for quite a while. Put in spoilers due to length.

Been watching the newly released Season 2 of 'Pantheon' on Netflix. It's a bit slow, but I'm enjoying it.

It's kind of surreal though, considering one of the characters is very distinctly voiced by William Hurt, who passed away 3 years ago this week.

I was watching a Bollywood movie, which I have never done, but they are apparently speaking "Hinglish" and they will randomly swap from Hindi to English and of course, I don't know Hindi, but man, this has to be what it feels like to have a Stroke because it's bizzare and a little unnerving.

With all the rain we've been getting down here, I've been on an utterly crazy binge catching up on 'TV and movies' this last week or two.

Ghosts, Elsbeth, Will Trent, Doctor Odyssey, Pantheon, Invincible, Harley Quinn, Dune 2, Wheel of Time(from the beginning), Anora, Better Man, Electronic State, Kraven the Hunter, Solar Opposites, and likely a few more that slipped my mind.

2009?

I was fooled by "Marley and Me." I will not be watching this. Thinking about it generates anxiety.

This looks fun, a bit like a modern fairy tale. And Millie Bobby Brown has been on a role with films for Netflix.

Nope, not much of a modern fairy tale. I've started in on a watch session of this twice now, with similar dropping out moments. (Joe Russo's cameo early in doesn't help keep me in the movie either time, either.) I don't think I'll giving it a third try. 3 out of 15 Orangeades.
