I had a trust-fund kid as a neighbor who scared the crap out of me. There's a 3 story open air stairwell directly behind my kitchen window that provides access to the condos directly behind my townhouse. I was at home chilling and I hear this slow terrified ululation/moaning. Being a noisy 'get off my lawn' type, I rushed out back to see what was going on... and the kid has a death grip on the railing, teetering around like he's about to pitch over it and fall 3 stories onto concrete.
I rushed up and pulled him off his feet. His eyes wouldn't focus, he kept trying to stand back up but clearly wasn't able to tell which way 'up' was anymore. All the while hooo-ing and howling like a madman. Got another neighbor to call the paramedics, they said it looked like he was on ketamine and something else.
Only saw him a few times after that, not sure if he moved away or eventually managed to OD when there wasn't help around. I'll never understand why people do that shit to themselves. Or, more like I *hope* I never understand it.
