Roberto "Loli" Linguanotto, the creator of one of the most cherished Italian desserts of all time, has died at the age of 81.

Renowned restaurant Le Beccherie, located in northeastern Italy, confirmed that the father of tiramisu died on Sunday. Linguanotto had worked at the Treviso restaurant as a pastry chef when he developed the recipe alongside the restaurant owner’s wife, Alba Campeol.

So, I was off to Flagstaff AZ this most recent weekend for a gathering of some old college buddies. We sorta do this every 5 years or so.

I stay at the historic Monte Vista Hotel downtown, a spot that's full of memories. If the walls could talk... anyway, lots of catching up, lots of walking, lots of beer, which I don't normally drink anymore. I'm more of a red wine with dinner kind of guy these days.

Anyway, after a weekend of some very fine micro-brew pubs, I sorta got my whistle whetted for liquid bread again. Reds, Hefeweizens, Pils, Stouts, etc (pretty much anything -except- IPA's which I find revolting.) I got home Sunday and it's hot, and I'm not really ready to be done with the drinkydrink thing. So I got a sampler from Trader Joe's. Which is why I'm posting.

I tried several of their seasonal brands and, honestly, beer is beer for the most part. They had something called "Speculoos Cookie Butter Beer" ... omg. Not for me. /shudder. Just, no. (https://www.traderjoes.com/home/products/pdp/speculoos-cookie-butter-beer-075215) I'm sure it makes someone happy, but it's -not- me. Yaaaggh. Ick.

But I did find something that really fit my tastes: "La FIN du MONDE" (La Fin du Monde | Strong Triple Blonde Beer | Unibroue), and I'm in love. I'm not much of a beer snob, but damn this brand is tasty. A little spicy, great for hot weather and delicious. 9% alcohol/volume.

Anyway, that is all. I just wanted to share, and now I'm going to go back to rewatching Helluva Boss on youtube. =D
