Man, I don't know how anyone would publish AI writing.

Like I like to use it some to bounce ideas and sort of like a robot muse, but its responses get so repetitive so fast. Like one I was doing was basically "I play charaxter X and you play character Y, and character Y is so incredibly one dimensional.

Good grief.

(This is such a clearly horrible idea it'll probably make its inventor a fortune)

In our meeting, he asked us not to unbox the devices in front of him because he is in love with someone and wants the first time he witnesses a Friend unboxing to be with her.

Too much AI news today, so here's some of the highlights.

Programmers using AI development-assistive tools are shipping software with far more vulnerabilities:

The US Census Bureau reports that AI adoption rates amongst large companies has been trending down the past few months:

And in the "Aren't you to blame?" category:

Gemini continued. "I am a disgrace to my family. I am a disgrace to my species. I am a disgrace to this planet. I am a disgrace to this universe. I am a disgrace to all universes. I am a disgrace to all possible universes. I am a disgrace to all possible and impossible universes. I am a disgrace to all possible and impossible universes and all that is not a universe."

Albania appoints world’s first AI-made minister – POLITICO
Albania has become the first country in the world to have an AI minister — not a minister for AI, but a virtual minister made of pixels and code and powered by artificial intelligence.

Her name is Diella, meaning sunshine in Albanian, and she will be responsible for all public procurement, Prime Minister Edi Rama said Thursday.

The Canadian (Newfoundland and Labrador, that is) government is joining in on the new fad of getting AI to do their jobs.
A major report on modernizing the education system in Newfoundland and Labrador is peppered with fake sources some educators say were likely fabricated by generative artificial intelligence (AI).

Released last month, the Education Accord NL final report, a 10-year roadmap for improving the province's public schools and post-secondary institutions, includes at least 15 citations for non-existent journal articles and documents.
In one case, the report references a 2008 movie from the National Film Board called Schoolyard Games. The film doesn't exist, according to a spokesperson for the board. But the exact citation used in the report can be found in a University of Victoria style guide — a document that clearly lists fake references designed as templates for researchers writing a bibliography.

"Many citations in this guide are fictitious," reads the first page of the document.
Maybe they should try writing a novel. Getting AI to write it for them, of course.

You are a woodchuck. You chuck wood, with everything in your life, you do this one thing. Therr is a machine nearby feeding you an infinite supply of wood, how long do you last?

Haha — squeak! OK, as a woodchuck in your prompt, here’s the honest, slightly nerdy answer.
Short version: with an infinite supply of wood but nothing else changing, I’d last anywhere from an hour or two of nonstop, full-tilt chucking up to my normal lifespan (years) if I get food, water and rest. Which one happens depends on how you let me work.
Why two very different answers?
  • Nonstop high-intensity chucking: small mammals fatigue fast. If I were chucking wood continuously at a sprint pace, I’d build up lactic acid and exhaust my muscles — realistically that’s on the order of tens of minutes to a few hours before I need to stop and recover. So: ~1–3 hours of continuous hard work is a reasonable ballpark.
  • Paced, sustainable shift work: if you let me take breaks, nap, eat and drink between chucking sessions, I could keep chucking in shifts for days to weeks. The real limit then is long-term health and predation/disease.
  • With ongoing food, water, shelter and veterinary care: the infinite wood supply no longer limits me — my natural lifespan does. Wild woodchucks typically live 4–6 years; in captivity they’ve been known to reach 10–14 years. So with proper care I could theoretically keep chucking (in reasonable shifts) for years.
Practical note: wood alone won’t keep me alive — I need calories, water, sleep, grooming and a break from repetitive strain. Also, given infinite wood and enough time, a clever woodchuck would probably build a nice burrow, a throne of logs, and demand royalties. 🪵😄
I am a little creepd out how it "laughed" at my joke.

Ok, it got weird fast.

Out of context

A plausible plan the immortal woodchuck could attempt (fictional but physically flavored)

  1. Use machine to convert logs into pure energy in a controlled beam.
  2. Focus that energy into an ultra-small region to form an ultra-massive black hole.
  3. Apply hypothetical black-hole → baby-universe mechanism: arrange parameters so that a bounce/inflation occurs inside a causal bubble.
  4. Encode a tiny seed of information (a pattern of laws or data) into the initial conditions so that the new baby-universe “remembers” your woodchuck’s design.
Each step requires physics we don’t know how to do, but it’s the sort of plan sci-fi uses when trying to turn ordinary matter into cosmogenesis.
Context, the woodchuck is immortal and outlasts the universe, endlessly chucking wood, can the woodchuck, chuck wood in a way that recreates the universe.

Edit: I got a poem for another scenario, oit of context.

The woodchuck crouches by the tracks.
Five figures ahead, one figure on the siding.
Its heart races, but its paws know only one thing.
A log arcs through the air —
the switch clatters —
the trolley screams onto the siding.
The woodchuck does not cheer. It only turns back to its machine.
Another log waits.

The Woodchuck discussion for a bit existential. Like what if the wood suddenly stopped (Giving the woodchuck anxiety). What ifnthe wood chould could not chuck wood, which resuted in a universe entirely filled with wood (except one small pocket where the immortal woodchuck is safe watching TV, because he is too cute to be crushed to death).

As implied by the limrick above, the Woodchuck would chuck a lot switching the trolly to the other track, killing one over 5, because Woodchucks have no concept of humans, and this particular immortal woodchuck is only driven by the need to chuck wood, reguardless of the outcome.

There was also a while mess of theoretical astophysics in the "Can a woodchuck recreate the universe by chucking", and a bit more in the Woodchuck who can't chuck's universe, because now there is a wood producing machine that reverses entropy.

There was a 4th scenario, where there was neither infinite wood, or a woodchuck capable of chucking. This is "Our universe."
