My impression is that the main reason for not mentioning He Whose Name Must Not Be Spoken is that speaking said name tends to summon said entity.

It would be nice if one last communication to Cris' family would be a link to a memorial signing webpage with numerable internet persona offering good-byes with any extra notes of personal thanks. Moderated, of course. His own online life had a magical effect on people.
As well as in SL. It might have never been "technically" been the official forum, but it was the official forum in reality before LL ever started their own. They should have no problem with a small memorial of some kind.

As for the unmentionable, I interpret it that as mostly for the open part of the forum. Having discussions in front of the whole world about someone already banned, not allowed to participate, wasn't an image he wanted to present.
