I thought the complaint about Russian bots was not so much that they formed the membership of Facebook groups but that, with the aid of data and algorithms from Cambridge Analytica and similar organisations, they generated and promoted tailor-made content to individuals in order to influence them to support groups like #walkaway.

So no one is suggesting that your friend or you are Russian bots. However, she (and you) may well have been manipulated by them.

Posting a picture of himself holding up his middle finger to so-called family friends? WTF is that? That's nasty. Even, I, someone who disavowed people who I found out voted for Trump, after the fact, struggling even as I did so, because love, would never have thought to be so ugly. Everyone has the right to vote for whoever they wish in a democracy so I won’t criticize that. Posting a picture of it on social media? Ok. Weird, but ok.

The driving motivation being some sort of ... what? Proof that there aren’t outside influences on social media? That’s kind of funny actually, well it would be if consequences weren’t so high. It’s like wearing a sign that says “I’m incapable of critical thinking”.

YOU are the very first person I think of when it comes to posts like that. I haven't forgotten past posts. I haven't forgiven them either. You deserve to have a happy life with your wife, and Zaida actually donated to a group that opposes that.

Over time, I think, we tend to be more forgiving, but nay, it pops up again. I think that this is a response to the whole PP thing, but again, they went there. This whole, I'm going to give my finger to extended family-family friends is just spiteful.

They do. Still working on getting those non-voters out the door, into my car, or if far away other means. I think, if we aren't able to stop this road to despotism this November, we are fucked. We were fucked on election night 2016. Soft coup, imo. But, if we aren't able to rally the troops, goodbye to the world we have known.
