A New Chapter for Mainland: Gaeta 1 Transition & Zindra Expansion

Linden Lab is planning the addition of 90 new Zindra regions, while phasing out the "unconnected continent" Gaeta 1 entirely from the grid. They're offering size-for-size parcel replacement on comparable parcels for affected landowners, giving priority access to those inclined to move into one of the new Zindra (adult) regions.

They claim there's no rush to the process, but point out that completion of the project is planned for the end of 2026 So we'll see.

Zindra really needs more land and being unfinished is ugly. They need a way to block land scalpers from scooping it all up into overpriced sale/rental property though.

Also, a lot of the old main land is abandoned and Linden owned. It could really use some consolidation. I kind of wish they would start terraforming some of the emptt spaces so it doesn't all just come off like an empty desert. Even some procedurally dropped forests would make it nicer.

That was something I keep thinking. Anyone not supper attached to their place should definitely take the Zindra land and sell it then buy a parcel elsewhere.

It's North of Corsica. Planned to be the beginning of a sort of continental (big island) chain off on their own. Work on it was never completed.

I was thinking of going to the Town Hall for this, as it would be my first inworld community meetup in a very long time. But it's scheduled for next Monday from 11am-Noon SLT.

This has always bugged me about LL. How they do events to fit the 9-5 business hours in San Francisco, but many of their Residents are either working, or sleeping or busy with family, depending on time zone.

Whenever LL plans such a meeting, there will be always people working, sleeping, commuting to work of from work or drink their 5 oçlock beer somewhere. Just as if one organizes something else in the Wonderful World.

I am literally the exact opposite. I almost never visit non mainland regions.

Open the map.

If you're in amongst a huge, nearly shapeless conglomeration of sims, it's almost certainly mainland.

If you're in a collection of square sims surrounded by water, or a single square sim surrounded by water, or in a sim that's mostly water surrounded by water, it's almost certainly a private sim.
