It would cost too much but I wish all the space between private regions was open sailable water.

But also maybe they make a new "water region" level that is like, 5% of the load capacity for a normal sim, because it only needs to handle maybe 1 boat and 2-3 avatars most of the time. Probably just 1 avatar.

We used to have these. They were called "void" sims, water only, allowed five or six avs IIRC. The idea, at the time, was to allow private estates to include inexpensive lake regions. There was even talk of owners linking voids to form a navigable river, or small sea, between their estates. LL stopped renting those but the model exists and they could run several dozen of them effectively on one virtual device.

In at least 90% of the case mainland is to me the right to live in or next to dumpsters.

They actually started work recently on building out Zindra and spun up a few regions not too far from where I used to live out in Moni Targa. Pretty neat stuff.

Updated Plans for Gaeta 1

After further review of resident feedback, relocation activity, and our long-term plans for Mainland, Linden Lab has decided that Gaeta 1 will remain open.

This is a significant change from the transition plan announced in April. We are sorry for the disruption and uncertainty this reversal has caused, especially for residents who made decisions or completed relocations based on the information and direction we previously provided. We recognize that those residents acted promptly and in good faith, and we are committed to providing affected residents with meaningful choices moving forward.

But what does this mean FOR ME?!?!

• If you still own land in Gaeta 1: You can stay put. No action needed unless you'd prefer to relocate to the new Zindra expansion areas.
• If you've already relocated from Gaeta 1: You can stay in your new location, or request assistance moving back. You'll be hearing from us directly on both options.
• If you were mid-relocation when this changed: We'll reach out individually to sort out where things stand and what your options are.

Oh boy, yet more extra work for Linden Lab's minions. Meanwhile, the Zindra expansion continues, and (supposedly) Mainland will be getting some love renewed focus.

It's infuriating because SL honestly is a great product with a unique corner of the market. It could be SO MUCH MORE if the management wasn't fucking dumb.
