If the GOP plays it smart, they might win the presidential election over this.
First they have to push forward a candidate quickly and then hope and pray that the Dems will go into defense and delay mode until after the elections.
That way they will have a great argument in their hands for all the christian nutters, anti abortion dwellers, homophobes and all conservatives in the USA to vote for 45 one more time, even if they were thinking to vote Dems this time, because 45 being dissappointing in his current job.
They all will feel that they can influence what will happen in the US for at least two decades if they get yet another conservative judge up there.
I hope I'm wrong about this, but fuck... this is the worst thing that could happen in this moment in the election race.
Agreed. We have to see how they play it out. They might just go for the instant win or they might for the election.

Either way, we are screwed.

This thread, though, suggests that may backfire on them

I blame this one ALL news organizations for giving him that platform.
All news organizations have participated in the fear mongering, but another major problem is/was the school system. Every nation on Earth just about takes a lot of liberties with how they teach their history to their young people to make themselves sound more gallant and important etc. When most of us American were in school, we learned a version of our history that frankly was pro American propaganda... Many Americans just kind of fell in love with this, thinking it was the objective truth.

And this isn't just a problem in America of course. Most people reading this probably believe something about their country that is both cool and also mostly false...

Was there ever a time in American history it was not? I guess the same can be applied to most other countries as well though.

Much more recently, there has been an effort to be a bit more honest about our history in schools (especially in regards to race relations) and Conservatives are crying that the left is trying to rewrite history.

You, yes you. Now, you want civil war? You COULD have voted the right way last time.
First of all, who I vote for is none of your business. Secondly, who I vote for is not in this thread. I would thank you to stay on topic.

Others in this thread explicitly said that they do not support civil war, and then commented on the idea of another American civil war, and you didn't accuse them of advocating for civil war. I did the exact same thing, because I don't support civil war. You accuse me of advocating for war, but not others who used almost the same wording as me?

If you have some kind of personal issue with me, I suggest you take it up with me in IMs, because you are wildly off topic, and behaving irrationally.

I don't think they will go for the long play. Republicans don't usually play political finesse games like that. Their games are usually more crude. Plus, they learned from the Democrats how risky that kind of move is. They are going to take the supreme court win now.

You TOLD us all how you voted, very publicly, so it's public information at this point, so don't claim privacy now. A bit like crying over the horse kennel after you left the door wide open. You have bragged repeatedly about your vote.

I don't accuse them of civil war because they didn't vote in a manner that would lead us to it. You did. You'd prefer to let it get to that stage rather than exercising your voting rights judiciously.

Didn't already say in my original post that I loathed people like you? Why are you surprised? Conveniently right after my post you were on about civil war. You could have helped to avoid that, but no. We could still face it, but you were on the wrong side of history.

You can expect a lot more anger from me. There will be NO mollycoddling about "Lesser of two evils" or any such other bullshit. The Supreme Court was on the ballot and you were smart enough to know that., which makes your choice even worse.

What's worse is that you plan to do so again.

ETA": You should probably avoid interacting with me, because right now., my opinion of you could not be lower and you can expect more vitriol aimed in your direction. I feel rather strongly about democracy and you let us down.

So, from someone who grew up in the 70s-80s [first half].

I didn't know we had placed all Japanese-Americans in camps, I didn't know that George the III had told American Colonists that they couldn't steal land from the Natives [at least from the Cherokee], I didn't know that women fighting for the right to vote were thrown into jail or worse.... I didn't really know the Lusitania was a false flag operation.... now, is it because we weren't taught any of this, or because it didn't click in my head because I've ADD all my life and not been a big fan of US history because its not like we're taught anything that's ancient about this place..... don't know, but I'm pretty sure we were NOT taught this stuff in school.

And forget being taught all that much about civil rights movement......

This is so wildly off topic that I sent you an IM about it. I won't address it any further in public threads here. I don't think anybody else here cares about this, so I'm not interested in junking the thread up with it any more than it already is.

The school's curriculum in most miliaristic states, present like America and past like Prussia, has always been tailored to one primary goal: producing good subservients. So of course such stuff is not being taught at schools on purpose. Good subservients should not question their own country, but instead think that they are the good and the others are - well - whatever your ruling body tells you about them.

It is not off-topic, you asshole. Your actions and vote led us to this.

I won't be reading or responding to any IM's from you.

Okay, I rexd it, and I all I saw was more excuses not worth respoinding to. The one thing I will address is that you wonder why I am so angry. Good god, how can you even ask that question?

I blocked that person very early on due to reading them as a particularly obnoxious troll.

Trump really found somebody who is quite probably not a supposed rapist, but instead quite likely thinks women are there to be raped by their husbands? Yes, this is full in line with Trump.

Oh, catholic as well and 7 children? We can expect Trump's assault on abortion sooner or later if she gets elected.

It wasn't just you. The history I was taught in school always had America as the leader, the hero, the "good guys". Christopher Columbus was revered. Those who didn't recite the Pledge every morning were ridiculed and shunned.

JFC. you sent another IM. Stop that. I don't want to hear from you. Respect that, or I will post them right here in all their glory.
