An Op-Ed in Haaretz mentioned this document a couple of days ago:

Another plan that seems to have emanated from part of the government is a 10-page policy paper prepared by the Intelligence Ministry, which was first revealed on the Local Call website. This paper recommends transferring the entire civilian population of Gaza to Sinai. While it has the appearance of a serious document, no one who has even a fleeting acquaintance with this government is taking it seriously.

Despite its grand-sounding name, the Intelligence Ministry has zero influence over any of Israel’s intelligence services (which are run either from the Prime Minister’s Office or the Defense Ministry) and its sole purpose is to provide disgruntled Likud politicians with a ministerial title. The incumbent, Gila Gamliel, is not in any decision-making circle and has only observer status in the broader security cabinet (and no standing whatsoever in the war cabinet). It is almost certainly something that was prepared for Likud members rather than for any serious policy purposes.

Reporting further on the document today, they say
The Intelligence Ministry confirmed the existence of the document, but a source familiar with the drafting of it said the cabinet isn’t expected to debate the proposal and that the Intelligence Ministry is not the government entity that would be responsible for such decision-making.

The Intelligence Ministry confirmed the existence of the document, but a source familiar with the drafting of it said the cabinet isn’t expected to debate the proposal and that the Intelligence Ministry is not the government entity that would be responsible for such decision-making.
The Prime Minister's Office said in response for this article: “This is an initial document of the kind that can be found in dozens of iterations at all levels of the government and the security services. The issue of ‘the day after’ has not been discussed at any official forum in Israel, which is now focused on eliminating Hamas’ governmental and military capabilities.”

I rather expect that the eventual status of Gaza will be decided not by the government of Israel but by the US and friendly Arab states.

A powerful and angry essay by an Israeli leftist

Generally a good essay, but I can't resist picking on one silly passage towards the top:

Even though this awful war is not about you (Western, mainly White leftists).
Westerners in general are majority white, and I often see people try to dismiss causes by saying most of the supporters are white as if that was ever not true of something going on in a majority white country. Leftists are less likely to be white than the general population (especially conservatives) and the non white leftists I follow are very anti Israel. I've often seen the opposite accusation, that support for Israel is mostly from "YT's" who have no empathy for the non white Palestinians.

I think the reason she singles out White leftists is suggested by this passage:
Your aspirations of decolonization are theories. They’re something you would never have to face yourself. You’ll never be the collateral damage in this kind of freedom fighting, you’ll never have to pay a price for it. Your family will never be slaughtered at the altar of anti-colonialism, yet you’re willing to sacrifice our families. You’ll never be told to leave your home and go back to wherever you came from (even though you were born there). Your history of colonialism is old enough, your history of genocide effective enough, that you and your family and everyone you love can continue to be safe and comfortable while you preach about armed resistance. I’m sure you wouldn’t dare criticize any violent act of decolonization acted upon you, but we’ll never truly know. I wouldn’t wish it upon you that we’ll ever find out.
That would obviously not be particularly applicable to someone like Rashida Tlaib or Ilhan Omar. Nor do African-Americans have the same historical relationship with colonialism that White Americans do.

Well basically what she's telling is what is business as usual for the left and many other westerners: way too much sympathy for the Palestines, always telling Israel what to do, making bold demands at Israel and such, but almost nobody asks Hamas to engage into a ceasefire, or even dares to tell Hamas what to do, and little sympathy for Israel.

Sad, but true.

We (white liberals) don't expect Hamas to listen, exercising our racism of low expectations. They are only to be "managed", not engaged with. But is it racism, when considering their violent past & rhetoric?

Could be, but still this is a big failure by the Western public. Most people in Israel do see Western "support" following this cycle since decades:

1. Somebody in the name of Palestine attacks Israel, causing lots of civilian deaths, most of them jews.
2. All major western countries declare their unwavering support for Israel.
3. Israel reacts to this attack, causing death at the other side.
4. The major part of the support rotates 180 degrees, now most do pity the attackers believing the old narrative of the palestines being only poor victims but not also offenders, and want to dicate Israel what to do and what not.

Once a crisis is over, and the next one happens: rinse, wash, repeat. And in the meantime Palestine gets millions of cash to do whatever as support payments from the west.

And this is exactly why most people in Israel just do what they think is necessary to survive, because you cannot rely on that kind of support. And also most of them are sick about that Hamas/whoever does this stuff rarely gets scolded about what not to do like Israel is.

It's not racism to say Hamas' stated agenda is every bit as bad as the worst of what Israel is accused of...

Good article. I think part of the trouble is also that people think modern tech should have instant answers to everything so many people believe the first answer they wanted to hear... hardest thing to sell the public is "nobody actually knows yet." It is scary to see how much contradictory information is out there circulating. I don't claim to know much of anything that's actually happening on the ground right now. And obviously local sources have clear agendas.

All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when we are able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must appear inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
Sun Tzu.

Israel Shot Down a Ballistic Missile Outside Earth’s Atmosphere in First-Ever Instance of Space Combat

Israel used its cutting-edge Arrow air defense system to shoot down a ballistic missile outside the Earth's atmosphere last week, the Telegraph reported Sunday, in what may be the first known instance of warfare occurring in space.

The missile, thought to have been fired by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels operating in Yemen, soared about 1,000 miles over the Arabian peninsula before it was intercepted by Israel's Arrow system.

It appeared to be the first time the Arrow defense system has intercepted a ballistic missile — one propelled by rockets — outside of testing, according to Breaking Defense.

The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that it had "intercepted a surface-to-surface missile in the Red Sea area" in a November 2 post on X. The IDF did not confirm whether the interception took place outside the atmosphere.

Israelis in the southern port city of Eilat reported hearing a large explosion at the time, per the Telegraph. It's not clear how they would have heard the interception from the ground if it happened outside the Earth's atmosphere.

Bloomberg has spoken to the investment minister of Saudi Arabia, Khalid Al-Falih. Hamas will not like what he's telling, namely:

1. the normalization of ties with Israel still remain on the table.
2. Saudi Arabia will not use economic tools, so crude oil exports, to achieve a cease-fire. They want to find peace through discussions.
3. Saudi Arabia will held several summits with Arab nations to peacefully resolve the conflict.

A central part of achieving success depends on the matter of the tunnels. The IDF is gradually learning that everything Israeli intelligence knew about the array of defensive tunnels dug by Hamas under the ground of Gaza, doesn’t scratch the surface of the scope and sophistication of the project, which may be the largest of its sort in the world.

According to intelligence sources in the West and in Israel, the organization’s leadership and military wing constructed the capacity for staying inside the tunnels for long months. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said last week that Israel has developed new technologies to damage the tunnels. Should a breakthrough be achieved, allowing for broader destruction of the tunnels, the organization’s relative edge may be lost, and it may be forced to face the IDF under less convenient circumstances. In the optimistic scenario, this may be the tie-breaking move that Israel seeks.
