I'm amused how the idea of a fake Melania is so airily dismissed. It's no less plausible than dozens of other Trump atrocities, such as tearing up the Rose Garden, not to mention the Constitution. But oh no, Melania opting out of a public life she loathes is too outlandish to be true!

I suspect it's because people think that if there were a fake Melania, sooner or later the story would break. The current administration doesn't seem terribly good at keeping secrets, and sooner or later someone would link The Atlantic or The Guardian or AOC or someone into a WhatsApp group discussing the fake Melania's movements.

It's rare, but when they become suddenly overcrowded the weight of the people on the escalator that can cause it run rapidly toward the lower level, enough to cause injuries including crush injuries from the weight of people. It can also happen when the escalator isn't running, again just from the sheer press of people, and if one or more of the treads have been removed on the upside down return end people can literally be swallowed by them when they come around topside.

As the state of Florida prepares to hand over more than $67 million worth of downtown Miami real estate to President Donald Trump for a future presidential library and hotel, former Miami-Dade College President Eduardo J. Padrón calls the move “unimaginable” and a loss for Miami’s future.

Padrón, president emeritus of Miami Dade College and the namesake for one of its campuses, said the land that’s been transferred to the state was meant for an expansion of the college’s Wolfson campus to accommodate its growing student population.

“It’s very difficult to understand this because the public has not had a chance to even have a say on this,” Padrón told WLRN. “Its just frankly unimaginable that this decision was made without any real discussion of the consequences of what that will do to the college.”
