The points the author made are valid but what is with the one sentence equals one paragraph writing style? It is so annoying, just a pet peave I guess.

The main reason I write in one-sentence paragraphs on this blog is because it suits me – for it helps me organise and then express my thoughts.

With a one-sentence paragraph there is no hiding place for the author.

Either the one-sentence paragraph puts forward a worthwhile proposition or it does not.

With longer paragraphs – with multiple clauses and sentences – there is scope for waffle, inexactness, and evasion.

And so one-sentence paragraphs are a means of keeping an author sharp – they are a discipline.

Sentences, especially longer journalistic type ones, appear as paragraphs on small screens, tablets, phones, and such, because they wrap so quickly with, generally, larger fonts sizes than seem unnecessary but we're all getting older and are used to larger fonts on PCs.

The Enter, or Return, key is employed sooner than would be the case if the authour were using a screen wide enough to display text in a readable fashion rather than five words per line.

This is my observation.

While that author makes solid points, I feel like the mere act of bringing charges against TFG is a historic milestone. If anything lifts my hopes in this morass of smelly skunkwater, it's how many state and federal officials are holding to their oaths regardless of party loyalties.

My greatest fear is that those types of Repubs are retiring in greater numbers, thanks to the campaign of fear emanating from Donnie. Our system relies on the unselfish time & money given by regular citizens. Like Ruby Freeman. Attacks on mother-daughter election workers continue as they prepare to receive White House honor

I can't really blame her for trying to retire out of the public eye. That, I think, is one of the most insidious injuries that has been inflicted on Democracy by the psychotic orange baboon.

Would you serve as a juror at Trump's trial? After seeing what happened to Ruby Freeman, I absolutely would not, for fear of reprisal against my family and myself. His devout followers have already proven violence is the point.
It would almost have to be the elderly who don't give a dam anymore.

It seems to me that to write well, one should write with the intent of informing (and/or entertaining) one's reader(s) without annoying them with one's failures to write well, regardless of awards or praise.

I do prefer short paragraphs. But not that short. It is choppy writing. You often need more than one sentence to develop an idea. Not exclusively, but usually.

Humans need variety. It makes a single sentence paragraph more impactful if it is not the norm. If everything is a single sentence you lose an effective tool for emphasis.

Like this sentence.

Short, to the point. But it stands out to make my point more effectively because it is not one of a dozen paragraphs. It us the one example in this post of using white space for emphasis.

And this is why you or I will never hold public office. Writing and speaking at about a sixth grade level will encompass the majority of the hump of people's comprehension capacity. You'll hold an interview and your political opponent will show up in a cowboy hat and call you a high fallutin' city slicker tryin' tah bamboozle the common man.

I do prefer short paragraphs. But not that short.
You are not the common man, and it appears mister Green's approach serves him well in communicating complex topics down to dumb enough levels for the remaining Joe Sixpacks out there who still care about other people. Arming Joe Sixpack with concepts that he can describe in ways comprehensible to other Joe Sixpacks.

Example: When challenged by some old ass guy in the pharmacy about my mask, I tell him I don't know who in here has immunity problems, so I'm keeping my germs to myself because it's 'neighbourly'.

So I argue you're not mister Green's target audience. (His content is otherwise fantastic.)

This is what I teach Engineers to do. To communicate effectively to multiple audiences. I teach them not to dumb content down, but to effectively chunk information and use plain language to describe complex topics.

The blogger has a simple rule that works to organize his thoughts. But that does not make it the most effective way to communicate. He simply never learned to write effective paragraphs.
