I have had the Impossible Whopper a few times. I like it. I just wish it came in a cheaper, smaller double cheeseburger sandwich or something. I can hardly finish the Whopper and meal.

Also they keep forgetting to add the cheese they charge me for. But I never find out until I am back at the office.

The only non meat burger I've tried is the veggie burger that's been around for years. I think they're tasty but the fact they cost maybe 50% more than a cow burger puts me off. They're made of veggies. Shouldn't they be cheaper?

You would certainly think so. Eating healthy is so damned expensive around here!

I think that is changing. I was at Burger King the other day and it's on the 2/$6 deal now, next to the regular Whopper.

I've had the Impossible Whopper. It's ok. I have no problem eating it over a regular burger. The problem is, it's Burger King. Even their regular burgers are... meh. They don't do any better with the Impossible Whopper.

When the person taking your order asks "do you want it on the grill or in the microwave?" ... :confusedcat:

That all said, given how much growing and consuming meat affects people and the planet, I welcome meat alternatives. If they can make it taste like meat, so much the better. I wouldn't judge them by Burger King's standards, though.
Yeah, the default for the impossible should be the microwave. It pretty much defeats the whole point of a veggie patty to cook it on the same surface as meat products.

The ones that try to imitate taste are generally more expensive. You can get some good cheap ones at most grocery stores. Not the same taste but more nutritious.

On the other hand, it defeats Burger King's branding of "flame broiled" when those things are nuked.

If possible cross-contamination is a real concern, places like Burger King are probably a bad idea even if they do use the microwave. Unless an establishment is fully vegetarian/vegan it's never going to be as safe as that vegetarian/vegan wants it to be. Not unless you have really low standards :D My standards tend to fall rapidly if I'm hungry and smell chips!

Now that I read that even using the same grill plate as the meat version is almost considered a crime, I wonder how do vegans deal with medicines then?
All medicines are tested on animals before approved to be used on people, some are even grown inside eggs (like flu vaccines).
And cosmetics, shoes, handbags?
Must be hard (to try) to be a vegan then.

True, but a lot of people expected it to be vegan, found out otherwise, and this resulted in bad press. Maybe verbally tell the customer how it will be cooked?

Yes, it is a chore. Many meds can also be found in plants but it costs more since there is not as high a demand. As to animal testing, it really comes down to where your ethical line is. For food there is no good argument for animal sources. For medicine if it is a choice between saving a life or that the life saving med may have been tested on animals ...
