In spite of the SF Bay Area and Alameda County in particular beginning to flatten the curve, I still got this from my doctor at Kaiser Fremont today:
Hello,
Thank you for doing your part to keep us all safe during this trying time. Social distancing is essential for flattening the curve! If you or a loved one does become ill, please know that we are here to help.
A coordinated effort is in place to request donations from the community. Kaiser Permanente is accepting donations of medical supplies and other items including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes.
Current list of items we are accepting. All donations must follow these guidelines:
- Unopened N95 respirators & surgical masks
- Unopened packages of disposable gloves
- Unopened containers of hand sanitizer (60+% alcohol based)
- Unopened containers of disinfectants & disinfecting wipes
- Packaged, unused protective goggles
- Unopened swabs for collecting screening samples
- Unopened gowns (surgical & isolation)
- Face shields
We will also accept donations of home-made masks. This will help us manage our supplies of medical-grade masks for physicians and staff who provide direct patient care. Home-made masks need to meet certain specifications in order to be effective. Please see this link:
