The tacos with slaw reminded me of the early 90's. There was some kind of major lettuce shortage, and Taco Bell was forced to substitute cabbage for the lettuce in their tacos.

It actually wasn't half bad.

(I mention Taco Bell because, at the time, I lived in an apartment complex directly across the street from one. It was great!)

I use which ever I have, cabbage or lettuce and like both. I find that when I make tacos with pork (carnitas) that cabbage seems to taste better than lettuce with them. BTW - Carnitas are a great way to use a cheap cut of pork. Split it in half and one half make pulled pork sandwiches and with the other half, make carnitas.
