I'm really laughing because I have done exactly the same thing. I "thought" that I'd planted my peanut seedlings. I got all the pots filled and ready and then a brain glitch made me think I'd put the peanuts in and I hadn't. For two weeks I checked the containers, thinking the seeds were bad ... until I sorted through my seeds for something else and came across an unopened peanut seed packet. :giggle:

That’s exactly it. After getting all the pots filled and sorted, etc. I simply “thought” I’d planted the seeds. Well I feel better now, not being the only one it’s happened to.

Found an Instagram account for when you need lolplants for the thread:

And by you, I mean me!

I got a aeonium today! And it’s purple/maroon Squeeeeeeeee!!!!

Was on my wish list. To be clear, I wasn’t running around unprotected and shopping. I went masked, directly to the local hardware store for a bunch of much needed things, and close to the register, hidden in a dark corner, forgotten and miserable, there she was, teeny tiny and alone except for a mostly dead Echeveria. She, my dream plant I’ve wanted for so long. What she was doing there, I do not know, this is not a large type hardware store (I love this place) but I turned around and almost fainted. “Please oh please, take me home with you” she begged. “Why yes, my love, my pretty little fighter/survivor, I will rescue you!” She started to weep with happiness as I placed her gently into my bag and she realized she finally had a home. I told her to save her tears, she was dehydrated enough as it is.

Aaaaaanyway, so happy. 😊

I started really looking after my plants just before the lockdown. I hadn't expected it to be so addicting! I first propagated my Peace Lily (which has been thriving in spite of me), and gave the resulting forest to my neighbours. They were initially going to be given to colleagues, but well... lockdown happened!

We also got access to our garden allotment two weeks before the lockdown. We've spent a lot of time there, weeding, raking, planting and all that good stuff. We've also started tons of seeds. All in all, we're growing rhubarb, radish, butternut (not doing well), zucchini (embarrassing), tomatoes, chard, carrots, beetroot, basil (stunning), parsley (a little bit weak), coriander, strawberries, mint, peas, broccoli, potatoes... Oh and geranium!

Tomorrow I'll start some lettuce, rocket, spinach and chive. This is soooooooo much fun!

This plant.

I want...

Nevermind.
Yeah, the spiral aloe is on my wish list but I probably wouldn’t get one even if I saw it. I think it would be unhappy on my narrow windowsill during winter.

My lettuce is growing well. I’ve finally transferred my peppers this week (heatwave after freezing spring wtf) and planted 3 tomato plants in the pot that was supposed to be for my bush bean drama queens. Next year I am not growing from seed. Mistake on my part. If you’re growing many in a large garden space you can save money, but for the price of a packet of seeds, you can get three plants. And you’re sure they’re well started. Except leaf plants which are better to buy as seeds.

My Aeonium is a Zwartkop I am now sure (I was so hoping since it’s the one I wanted for so long). After only a week, it has blackened under bright light/sun and colder nights. So very Goth. 🖤

Last week vs now (muffin for size, I had no banana)

Now a want à Mardi Gras

I suppose it can also be a cool way to hang your pet fox?

Garden people;

What do you do about bird poop in your leafy vegetables. I pluck out the leaves that have obviously been pooped on, they’ve been relatively spared, but I can’t possibly see all the poop crumbs...

I’ve taken down the bird feeder, but I just want to know if simply rinsing my lettuce before eating is ok? 🐥💩

Yup.
Do you really think that every lettuce leaf is checked in a food processing factory, where they pack salads?
Rinse, inspect the leaves, and rinse one more time. And you'll be just fine.

What I do when I bring leafy greens in from the garden is to put them in a large bowl of ice water with a 1/4 cup of white vinegar. I let them soak in there for about 10 minutes or so. This not only cleans them but it refreshes them and they are firmer.

I finally killed the orchid that I received as emotional torture a Christmas gift. It may have died quite a while ago; it's hard to tell. The leaves looked so glossy and healthy, but I shifted the plant slightly and they immediately fell off. Apparently the nearby wall was propping them in place.

It's summertime, put your [presumably dead] orchid outside where it can get rain and sun and it may actually come back. It's happened for me before. Orchids don't really like being indoors. Here in Florida, I just tie them to trees and let them be.
