I made it through the initial 17 pages, then skimmed as it got to 37 pages, then it was 63. I've not looked today. I suspect there will be nothing new except a certain person insisting they are the sole determiner of legal interpretation - demands that LL wait to be sued or prosecuted - blah blah gulag - blah blah Soviet - blah blah gacha hookers in Russia on minimum wage. I can't wait!

Cory wrote the original interpreter overnight [o v e r n i g h t] then demonstrated it, with a garage door opener ha ha ha, for inclusion in the Alpha release. He did devote a whole entire week to the redesign that we use today.

I'd heard the story, too, but I'd also heard (and can probably find it if I look again) that he denies the story.

Is there any actual documentary evidence that it happened this way?

A shame LL is banning gachas, just when I've thought of a new in-world business concept.

All I'm going to miss about gachas is the opportunity to get some interesting random thing for not much money or to be able to assemble some cute outfits on the cheap from resellers.

Confession, but i've probably still done more coding with lsl [and muf and mpi] than with C# or early 80s TSR basic, which may or may not have just been basic, or any other language I have learned.....

I even kinda grok it? But its a royal pita to work with compared to C# [also, C# is catching up.... ]

Best bit I saw skimming was apparently someone suggested Linden homes were also gambling, since you don't know where you will land.

At some point, you can't just call every situation with an unknown outcome gambling.

From what I have read over there, that is exactly what some of them are doing trying to convince LL not to ban gachas.

Linden Scripting Language is a hack. Cory wrote the original interpreter overnight [o v e r n i g h t] then demonstrated it, with a garage door opener ha ha ha, for inclusion in the Alpha release. He did devote a whole entire week to the redesign that we use today. The first adaptation to LSL2 was the addition of lists and that took several months to debug. It only got hackier from there. It's a hacky hack.

I was reading what he wrote about that not too long ago. I think his blog is still up if you'd care to peek at it. Or should I hush and mind my own beezwax?
