X is testing new paid membership tiers to compensate for poor ad revenue

X (formerly Twitter) is looking to split its premium subscription service into three membership tiers, allowing the company to vary subscription pricing based on how many ads are shown to the user. According to Bloomberg’s source who attended a Thursday call with X and debt holders that helped Musk finance the acquisition, the company is currently testing Basic, Standard, and Plus variations of the existing premium plan, which currently starts at $8 per month. It remains unclear if a free version will continue to exist.

No pricing information has been announced for the new membership tiers. However, according to details previously discovered in the X app, the entry-level Basic plan will not reduce the number of ads that users see on the platform, while the Standard tier will show half as many ads — one of the benefits that premium subscribers currently enjoy. The top Plus premium offering will remove ads entirely and therefore presumably cost even more than the $8/mth or $84/year charged today. X has not revealed when these new membership tiers will be rolled out in testing or general availability, or what additional benefits (blue check, edit, etc) each plan might include.

I had a stupid, probably wrong, though about this recently.

What if he is trying to get it so fucked up that the US Government basically takes it, and he is assuming they will assume the massive debt attached to it.

Or, I guess more, how much of the debt and fines is Elon himself actually liable for? Or is the plan to, I dunno, get arrested for treason or something and now he is no longer part of the company woth a negative billions of dollars.

He is already basically being the most vultury of vulture capitalist here, he will never be able to get rid of a company levied with fines out the ass and all that debt and that has been hemmoraging users for at least a year now.

This caused me to play around with the map. Whereupon I accidentally learned that the British Isles doesn't appear to like highways (much). Scotland, for example, doesn't appear to have, like, any. South of Perth.

I was looking at street level view on Google. Some of those roads I'm not sure if they are large enough for one car, especially if it rains (which turns side of road into mud; and part of the road into mud as well, judging by some of the roads I was on virtually). *shudders*.
