Elon Musk threatens to sue Microsoft

Elon Musk is threatening to take legal action against Microsoft over claims that the company “trained illegally using Twitter data.” The billionaire’s statement came in response to a tweet noting that Microsoft’s advertising platform announced it would stop supporting Twitter, reportedly due to Twitter’s changes requiring payment to access its API.

Musk’s threat is vague but appears to be over OpenAI using Twitter data to train the large language model behind products like ChatGPT. Twitter Begins Removing Check Marks From Accounts

Elon Musk, the owner of the social media service, has begun to charge a subscription fee for the verification symbol.

“We are removing legacy verified checkmarks,” the company said in a statement on Twitter. “To remain verified on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue.”


Paying the subscription fee will come with other perks, Mr. Musk has said, including more prominent placement in conversations on Twitter.

It’ll be interesting to see if any celebrities or companies pay for the check.

King, for one, said he hadn't paid.
