Musk's plan to magically convert Twitter into a competitor to YouTube is a special kind of precious.

Quite apart from what it reveals about Mr Simon and his management style, I'm staggered anyone at his level would put this kind of thing in writing

First most main content creators are nowadays either on Twitch, Instagram or TikTok. Many are just still on Youtube, because... it is where they started their career. But Youtube itself isn't the way to start something any longer.

Second: most of the juicy content creators, which Musk might want, quitted Twitter years ago because they think that it became too toxic, a waste of time and so on, so in short they do view it is very toxic cesspool. Musk being the head of Twitter definitely will not change that view for most of them.

For example PewDiePie told 2019 this about why he left Twitter:

‘I hate Twitter, I think about deleting mine all the time.

‘What I don’t like is the constant posturing that goes on there. People just can’t seem to help themselves from pointing out what is good, and what is bad, and how others are bad and how you are good. To the point where it almost becomes fiction where you satisfy this need.

‘You get rewarded for saying things that make you seem virtuous, rather than acting on it,’ he later added. ‘It explains why the site has become such a cesspool of opinions, and how, more often than not, those that boast about being virtuous often through hiding are not.

‘There are so many YouTubers I could call out.’ And many other content creators probably just do feel the same.

The word is he also replied to something Stephen King tweeted yesterday, replied a second time after King didn't react to his first reply, and then deleted both tweets when the second one was ignored too.

I took a look at that and noticed that only people with blue checkmarks can reply.

What a crock of shit. Not only does Musk have nothing in place to disallow hate speech or its like, but his version of "free speech" isn't free at all: to take a quote from GNU/Linux, "not free as in speech and not free as in beer."

Is he also a covid denier? I didn't know that, but tossing insults based upon a mask certainly seems like it.
