New Musk stuff incoming: he had a one hour q&a with his employees at Twitter; its contents have been leaked to the public (maybe the leaker will get fired next?).

What are the major topics he adressed? Well, these below:

  1. Musk wants enrich Twitter with direct payment functionality since it already has a direct messaging stack, so that people can use it for all types of payments, because re-creating PayPal is such a great idea! Actually his vision is more of Twitter becoming some sort of online bank.
  2. Before Musk everybody at Twitter could work from home, if they wanted to. Under Musk working from home is now not a right any longer, but a privilege, an exception only given to exceptional people (probably handpicked by Musk). Someone argued that Twitter has not just one office, but many offices scattered around everywhere, so many people in the company will never meet personally, so what's the point of going back to the office? Musk says that's normal in a big company, Tesla is the same, but it is his philosphy that people are way more productive when they're in person because then communication is much better. If you are not one of the chosen ones, and still want to work from home refraining from going to the office while being able to go to the office, well then it is "resignation accepted." You're fired!
  3. Musk wants Twitter to be able to better host videos and offer monetarization options to content creators, like subscription models which YouTube already has, so the maximum length of videos on Twitter should be increased. He's doing this, because he does not want to hand over that traffic any longer to YouTube and TikTok.
  4. Musk wants at least 1 billion active people on Twitter.
  5. Musk describes himself as a big fan of getting people to be verified, also gives a reason for his 8$ fee: "The issue without payment verification, especially without having a phone and a card is that you can do a million bot accounts a day and with the cost of a tenth of a penny. It’s not so much the $8 because, obviously, state actors have more than that. But can they put together a million phones and a million credit cards? That’s much harder. That’s where they’re going to stumble." Obviously he never heared about fake credit number generators and such, which should be in the toolbox of agencies.
  6. He wants to resurrect Vine, but better.
  7. He's got an "open inbox" policy: in case you want something, email him, he thinks he answers normally within an hour or so. If no answer within a day, send him a reminder. "And I’m also for like, “Hey, let’s have some fun and let’s have some adventure here.” Let’s just try some crazy stuff. And if it doesn’t work, we’ll stop it. And if it does work, we’ll amplify it. But I think that’s really fun and exciting.
  8. He wants to lure popular YouTubers to Twitter by giving him 10% more profit (share) than YouTube offers, and see how it goes.
  9. He wants to change the term follower to subscriber, because followers are uncritical, but subscribers are not.
  10. He describes himself as fan of small teams getting stuff done, like the Tesla Autopilot AI Team is about 150 engineers and competes with teams in the industry that are about 3000 engineers. "I’m a big believer that a small number of exceptional people can be highly motivated [and] can do better than a large number of people who are pretty good and moderately motivated. That’s my philosophy. And those who go hardcore and play to win, Twitter is a good place. And those who are not, totally understand. But then Twitter is not for you."
  11. No surprise also in this: Musk thinks that Twitter is overstaffed.
  12. Why he want to increase subscriptions and seeling stuff? Because he thinks the economy is heading into a serious recession, and this means much less advertising revenue in the near future.
  13. Another high priority for him: improving search on Twitter.
  14. Musk's stance on market research he will adopt to Twitter: "At Tesla, we do no market surveys, no market testing. We just make cars that that we love and that we are convinced people will love. That’s it. And Tesla outsells everyone. Tesla outsells all the people that are focused on the metrics, all the people that do the market surveys, outsells all of them. Because we focus on making the product amazing and that’s what matters. "

Stolen from elsewhere: The stereotypical midlife crisis red sports car seems extremely reasonable, in comparison.
